Just heard that Coach Sam Harp is leaving Danville for a job in Tennessee!!

Good Man. He had Quite a run at Danville. Good Luck in Future.

Odd that he took the job in Tennessee today but didn't mention it to anyone at last night's Danville football banquet.

Who replaces him?

I'm not shocked to hear this.I have all the respect in the world for Coach Harp,he was always good to my Son.:thumb:

Sometimes change is needed from both sides,especially after 25 years.

I hope they go after Somerset coach Robbie Lucus.

I personally think it's still a good job.Danville has good athletes,just for whatever reason some are not playing football like they used to.Hopefully with a new coach at the helm more kids will start playing football again...:thumb:

I remember when Sam took the Danville job in '88. He was following Duffy and that was hard act on the field to follow. But Sam did a great job.

 

I recall a neighbor that was upset that the Ads lost the first 3 games in Harp's first season. I think they were all very good teams including a Lincoln County team that would make their first trip to the AAA semi-finals only to fall to Tighlman.

 

"If Duffy were here we would have won those games." I told him that even Tom couldn't have won those games and give Sam the chance.

 

He righted the Admiral ship that season, made it to the AA semi-finals where they lost to Somerset.

 

The next season the Ads went 14-1 and won it all.

I remember many were down on the Admiral program when Steele Harmon resigned after the '79 season and some unknown named Tom Duffy came in. Running a wishbone and practicing the kids till only a handful stayed out for the team.

 

Well, we all know how that went.

I would love to see Chuck Smith at Danville,but I don't see it happening in a million years...
