Final from Somerset. The Briar Jumper defense absolutely dominated the Admirals....AGAIN. Somerset wins their 6th straight game against Danville and none of them have been in doubt. When is the last time that Danville lost 6 in a row to an opponent?

 

This game was supposed to be different with Danville having Howard back but the Jumpers were in control from the beginning. The Admirals were held to 132 yards of total offense. They seemed to quit on Harp and had an ejection when they started trying to fight instead of play.

 

This is the fourth regional Championship for the Jumpers in a row, which is a first for the program. Somerset will take an 11-2 record into next week's game vs. Newport Central Catholic. Danville finishes at 9-4.

Congratulations Jumpers and Coach Lucas. Every single experience I have ever had with Somerset's program as a fan has been a positive one. I would love to see you guys win your first championship. Hopefully we can cheer for each other in Bowling Green in a couple of weeks.

Also, as I said in the pre game thread Somerset does a lot of extra stuff after plays and some extra talking. Somerset had 3-4 personal fouls in the game also, the Danville players just let it get to them too much in the second half. I thought Danville played more agressively but just gave up too many big third down conversions in the first half and 3 interceptions and a critical fumble in the second half. It was just too much to overcome with those turnovers. Its Somersets 4th regional title, will they finaly be able to get their first state title this year?

Seeing this score peaks my interest in the matchup next week versus New Cath. It has the makings of a good one.

I'm not sure which player it may have been, I did see a scuffle way behind the play and the official was pointing to the side linesas he talked to a Danville player. Most assumed he was thrown out but maybe the officiale was just telling him to get off of the field, not sure what transpired there.

 

FWIW there didn't seem to be a lot of extra-curricular activity in this game.
