  1. I'm sure Pikeville will take note of your "new options". At Mayfield, we don't need to reinvent the wheel, it's been rolling just fine for over 100 years.
  2. 7 Franklin Simpson 5 Madisonville 3 Greenwood 2 Owensboro 1 Marshall County TB: Madisonville
  3. 405 yards of total offense for Mayfield to 92 for Marshall. Other than an early 3rd quarter TD by the starters, JV squad played most of the 2nd half.
  4. While still a couple of tough games on the schedule, Mayfield will have the next month (Marshall, 2 Fultons, and open) to work on the offensive side of the ball. If they don't look better by Russellville, they probably won't. It's hard not to compare this team to the last several, and I think the gap is much closer in 1A; however, as I felt at the beginning of the season, I don't know if another team in 1A can get over that hump and pass them by. I will enjoy watching how 2 through 10 shakes down though over the next several weeks, but Mayfield won't go anywhere with the teams they play before travelling to R'Ville.
  5. 7 McLean County 5 Owensboro 3 Franklin Simpson 2 Hopkinsville 1 Paducah Tilghman TB... Hopkinsville
  6. First of all, several personal foul penalties on SH in the 2nd half gave McCracken the opportunity to stick around. One of those crucial on the final drive. However, McCracken did tackle much, much better after halftime, which was a huge reason the Chargers only managed 7pts after half. VERY entertaining game to watch. A late and long ride back to Mississippi for SouthHaven.
  7. Mayfield finished with 120 yards of total offense for the night. When is the last time that has happened? And how is it a Graves County grad is the lead official for this game?
  8. Safe to say that 1A just got considerably more interesting after tonight's games.
  9. Someone wake me when either Kennemore touch the ball again or this one is over, whichever comes first.
  10. I could see special teams and the defense getting a score or two. Mayfield has gone over 40 against Graves in 3 of the last 4 years, and should do so again this year. 45 - 21 Mayfield
  11. I'm sorry, who won this game last week. I must have read the score wrong.
  12. 7 Union County 5 Crittenden County 3 McCallie TN 2 Warren East 1 Clinton County TB Union County
  13. If you going to slow the game down, like Murray did, you also need to know how to pick up the pace when it's late and you're losing. Like last year, Mayfield was the better team in the 2nd half when it counted the most.
  14. 7) South Warren 5) Hopkinsville 3) Fort Campbell 2) Grayson County 1) Graves County TB) Hopkinsville
  15. The preseason chatter was about all those returning for the Beechies this season, which is great. However, they are returning a team that lost in the quarterfinals, unheard of for the Tigers in Class A. I would guess Frankfort has the bigger grin. In Mayfield its kinda becoming more of a "gee whiz" moment when you guys take an L. I agree with the above comment though, there are enough Beechwood fans on BGP to make these threads more fun.
  16. I'll disagree on the officiating. It was spot on tonight, all were legitimate calls. Just a lot of sloppy play on both sides. These zebras kept the game moving without lenghty delays for discussion. Mayfield's O line just whipped PT up front, big holes for the backs all night. Tight game at the half, but the coaching staff proved why they are the best in the region, other than the long breakaway run, PT had little success in the 2nd half. This scheme just does not seem to fit PT and their athletes. A bland offense and Tilghman were just words that were never heard in the same sentence.
  17. 101st meeting between Mayfield and Paducah
  18. Mayfield starts a winning streak that takes them through the rest of the season. :smug: Mayfield 28 PT 14
  19. 7) Murray 5) Fulton Co 3) Allen Co. Scottsville 2) Monroe Co 1) Daviess Co. TB Fulton Co
  20. Officials tend to let you get away with the coming on to the field when they know they've screwed it up. And they screwed it up multiple times. It's not so much what they did call as to what they didn't call. If you know Coach Morris, you know he doesn't get bent out of shape unless he has a legitimate beef. I've felt for years that Western Kentucky has some of the worst officiating crews you will find. Many of these folks also do basketball and they're even worse then.
  21. I'm going to need to see more out of Russellville than a 2 pt win over Ft Campbell to consider them a major threat
  22. Saw what this young Mayfield team is about tonight, and they will only get better as the season rolls on. I like our chances against the remaining teams on the schedule... Caldwell, PT, Graves, Murray.
  23. I'll need a lot of convincing that there is a better game in Kentucky tonight
  24. Nice to see the fight in Mayfield. There are few times where they have found themselves in this position in the last several years
