theguru Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 1. Mayfield vs. 6A Marshall County 2. Frankfort vs. 2A Lexington Christian 3. Pikeville at 2A #8 Middlesboro 4. Beechwood vs. 4A Holmes 5. Williamsburg at 4A Harrison County 6. Russellville vs. 4A #10 Franklin-Simpson 7. Raceland at 3A #10 Lawrence County 8. Hazard vs. 3A Breathitt County 9. Holy Cross (Louisville) vs. 4A Waggener 10. Paris -- OPEN
theguru Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 I think Beechwood should be higher.
theguru Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 How is Frankfort #2? In short, the out of town members on our staff (meaning out of town from Beechwood) don't give the Tigers much credit. And put me with you, personally I would rank Pikeville and Beechwood over Frankfort.
ATLCat Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 No way Frankfort is #2 after the past two weeks. No way! 1. Mayfield 2. Pikeville/Beechwood 4. Frankfort/Wburg 6. Hazard/Raceland 8. Russellville/Holy Cross 10. Campbellsville/Paintsville/Fairview/Paris
Hip-Hop Box Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 How is Frankfort #2? What has Frankfort done to not be #2?
PulpFiction Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Didnt Beechwood beat Franklin Co. soundly and Franklin Co. had beat Frankfort? This makes no sense
ATLCat Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 What has Frankfort done to not be #2? 1. Lose to a Franklin County team that Beechwood obliterated the very next week. 2. Beat a Top team from a higher class.... let alone the #1 3A team
FullMetalJacket Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 1 Mayfield 2 Pikeville 3 Williamsburg 4 Franfort
Voice of Reason Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I agree with the posters above who say Beechwood should be above Frankfort. Here is another question to consider - which team is better, Franklin County or Belfry? Which win is more impressive .... Beechwood 42 5A #4 Franklin County 13 (35-0 at halftime; running clock for BW in the 3rd quarter) OR Pikeville 29 3A #1 Belfry 20
Hip-Hop Box Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I'm not taking anything away from what BW has done, and them beating FC would put them ahead of Frankfort but anyone else I'm not seeing it.
ATLCat Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I'm not taking anything away from what BW has done, and them beating FC would put them ahead of Frankfort but anyone else I'm not seeing it. You are not seeing Pikeville beating the #1 ranked and defending 3A State Champs? How about the fact Pikeville's resume has a convincing win over #8 Hazard? How about the fact Pikeville beat a Top 10 2A team in Pburg? How about the fact Pikeville obliterated a Paintsville team that was ranked #10 in 1A? Pikeville has beat 4 teams who would be undefeated otherwise. Meanwhile Frankfort's resume of wins are: 2-3 Lincoln County (Unranked) 2-3 Shelby County (Unranked) 2-2 Western Hills (Unranked) In short Pikeville has three wins better than Frankfort's best win.... I will even go as far to say Pikeville has two wins better than Frankfort's best loss. Frankfort won't even see a team this year as good as the team Pikeville has already beat.
Voice of Reason Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I'm not taking anything away from what BW has done, and them beating FC would put them ahead of Frankfort but anyone else I'm not seeing it. I can see that argument. Pikeville and Williamsburg are both 5-0 so I can see the merit in arguments for them. I am a big believer in strength of schedule and that is where I can make an argument for Beechwood above those two. Three of Beechwood's four opponents are better than anyone either of those two have played.
