BGP 1A Rankings for 9-22

Featured Replies

Oct 3 Frankfort travels to Florida Baptist Academy I'm not sure what they look like but you cant say their lesser/better then them cause we don't know.

FBA is a Class 2A team in Florida that won their region last year. They remind me a lot of Beechwood. They will be the best team Frankfort has played.

I do have to agree with other Frankfort at #2 currently is not how I would rank them The Panthers have to many injuries and its not the same roster they started the season.

Now they have the talent to be in the mix come November. But everyone has to get healthy and improve on a few things.

Disagree. Dixie Heights and Mt. Healthy would both beat Belfry. Franklin County vs. Belfry ... I would have to see tape and matchups.

Disagree.. Belfry would beat both DH and MtH and definately would beat Franklin Co..

Who does Frankfort play that is even remotely close to Belfry left on this schedule?

LCA

Paris

Bracken County

Eminence

Danville

That's the point I am making. Pikeville just beat a Belfry team that may very well be the most impressive win you will find for a 1A team all year.

You mean so far for this year, lots of football to go...plus, with that logic then Mayfield is easy #1 for taking the #5 team in 6A to OT in the first game of the year. This could keep going and going and going.

I like Frankfort a lot, but I would put them at 4 with Pikeville #2 & Beechwood #3.

Regular season

1. Mayfield

2. Beechwood

3. Pikeville

4. Frankfort

5. Williamsburg

Question, was Belfry shorthanded and if so how did that impact the game? I'm asking because I don't know but heard this

Beechwood had a huge win over Franklin County but the Tigers seem up and down on the season which is concerning in me ranking them at #2

Frankfort's loss to Franklin County might should be discounted some given it is a community rivals game that we all know can often discount a lot of the outcome or atleast margin.

Mayfield is beating good teams but have seemed less impressive the last 2 weeks of course both were rival games as well. I though Murray played out of their minds, just a great effort. It seemed they gave every ounce they had in their loss to Mayfield. The Mayfield Graves game never saw any rhythm for the flags, many were unsportman like or facemask. A very dirty game

1. Mayfield

2. Beechwood

3. Pikeville

4. Frankfort

5. Williamsburg

That rumor is false. Belfry was missing their #4 running threat (The #2 HB) and his subsequent backup...but their top 3 runners all played in each of the 4 Quarters (FB Hatfield, HB Willis, QB Taylor).

People can debate the energy level of Belfry Friday.. or how they shot themselves in the foot and left a sure 10 points off the board if not more. The bottom line is Pikeville took the fight to them, outplayed them up front on both sides of the ball, and made the key plays when they needed them. Even if Belfry brought their A Game there is no doubt Pikeville was more than prepared to compete with them for 4 Quarters and that says a lot.

I like that everyone is putting Mayfield 1st, but I'm a firm believer that rankings mean nothing. But, since that's the discussion here's mine.....

1. Mayfield

2. Beechwood

3. Pikeville

4. Frankfort

5. Williamsburg

I am confident that Belfry would beat both teams and Beechwood as well.

The CPU's agree with me as well:

neutral field

[2014] Belfry (KY) 26, [2014] Dixie Heights (Edgewood, KY) 13

neutral field

[2014] Belfry (KY) 17, [2014] Mt. Healthy (Cincinnati, OH) 16

neutral field

[2014] Belfry (KY) 35, [2014] Beechwood (Fort Mitchell, KY) 19

Did you run Belfry vs Pikeville? What does it say?

Those scores are interesting. I would say that Dixie would easily handle Mt Healthy

I agree. I'd have them at #4, but, would have Frankfort at #5. I think the Belfry win trumps the Franklin Co win and I think Williamsburg is still at #3 being undefeated and 3 quality wins over Wayne, Pike Central and Newport.. I don't think those 3 are as good as what Beechwood played, but, you need to be competitive, at least. They weren't against Dixie and although the score didn't look bad against Mt. Healthy, they got down 28-0 early and was completely dominated for a big portion of the game. Pike Central just played P'Burg close and W'Burg destroyed them. Newport played a Top 7 3a team in Mason Co right down to the wire and played competively with Scott, a ranked 5a team, so, the Newport win was a good one, especially on the road.

Beechwood was not completely dominated for a big portion of the game. They were moving the ball in the first half but just couldn't score. Probably what gave them confidence in the second half.

link to that program

If all these teams are the best in their district we will not likely see any changes over the next 5 weeks!

False.

Belfry is better than anyone Beechwood has faced.

Than BW has beaten, or faced? Mt. Healthy would beat any team in these rankings, as would Dixie. I say again, any team in here would have 2 losses had they played those two. Mt Healthy is still unbeaten playing a D2 Ohio schedule, and has a QB that's an FBS scholarship player, and a WR that's gonna name his ticket. No comparison between them and Belfrey, sorry.
