BGP 1A Rankings for 9-22

Featured Replies

I can see that argument. Pikeville and Williamsburg are both 5-0 so I can see the merit in arguments for them. I am a big believer in strength of schedule and that is where I can make an argument for Beechwood above those two. Three of Beechwood's four opponents are better than anyone either of those two have played.

False.

Belfry is better than anyone Beechwood has faced.

I'm not taking anything away from what BW has done, and them beating FC would put them ahead of Frankfort but anyone else I'm not seeing it.

I agree. I'd have them at #4, but, would have Frankfort at #5. I think the Belfry win trumps the Franklin Co win and I think Williamsburg is still at #3 being undefeated and 3 quality wins over Wayne, Pike Central and Newport.. I don't think those 3 are as good as what Beechwood played, but, you need to be competitive, at least. They weren't against Dixie and although the score didn't look bad against Mt. Healthy, they got down 28-0 early and was completely dominated for a big portion of the game. Pike Central just played P'Burg close and W'Burg destroyed them. Newport played a Top 7 3a team in Mason Co right down to the wire and played competively with Scott, a ranked 5a team, so, the Newport win was a good one, especially on the road.

But How does that hurt Frankfort, is all I'm saying? and If that's the case since they beat the 3A state champ, is that not worthy of being the #1 in 1A?

You are not seeing Pikeville beating the #1 ranked and defending 3A State Champs?

How about the fact Pikeville's resume has a convincing win over #8 Hazard?

How about the fact Pikeville beat a Top 10 2A team in Pburg?

How about the fact Pikeville obliterated a Paintsville team that was ranked #10 in 1A?

Pikeville has beat 4 teams who would be undefeated otherwise.

Meanwhile Frankfort's resume of wins are:

2-3 Lincoln County (Unranked)

2-3 Shelby County (Unranked)

2-2 Western Hills (Unranked)

In short Pikeville has three wins better than Frankfort's best win.... I will even go as far to say Pikeville has two wins better than Frankfort's best loss. Frankfort won't even see a team this year as good as the team Pikeville has already beat.

You had a good case going there till the last line. Frankfort has played a good schedule that is comparable to Pikeville's.

Who does Frankfort play that is even remotely close to Belfry left on this schedule?

LCA

Paris

Bracken County

Eminence

Danville

That's the point I am making. Pikeville just beat a Belfry team that may very well be the most impressive win you will find for a 1A team all year.

I'd have it:

1) Mayfield

2) Pikeville

3) Williamsburg

4) Beechwood

5) Frankfort

6) Russellville

7) Hazard

8) Raceland

9) Fairview

10) Holy Cross

False.

Disagree. Dixie Heights and Mt. Healthy would both beat Belfry. Franklin County vs. Belfry ... I would have to see tape and matchups.

Go on. One team does not make a schedule. Put both team's schedules up there and compare. Maxpreps has Frankfort and Pikeville's schedules ranked about even at this point.

Belfry would handle Mount Healthy. They are very similar to Belfry without the depth.

Dixie/Belfry would be a pretty good matchup. I think Dixie is a little ahead of Henry Clay who Belfry beat easily.

Would say belfry would be about a TD to 10 pt favorite against Dixie right now.

I am thinking you just mis-read that line that you are still trying to argue about?

Belfry would lose versus both Mt. Healthy and Dixie. I am confident in that.

Oct 3 Frankfort travels to Florida Baptist Academy I'm not sure what they look like but you cant say their lesser/better then them cause we don't know.

I like this one except I would switch Beechwood and Williamsburg. Frankfort at #5 for me.

I am confident that Belfry would beat both teams and Beechwood as well.

The CPU's agree with me as well:

neutral field

[2014] Belfry (KY) 26, [2014] Dixie Heights (Edgewood, KY) 13

neutral field

[2014] Belfry (KY) 17, [2014] Mt. Healthy (Cincinnati, OH) 16
