In theory it is possible. There are only 4 teams in the Lexington district. You don't have to win a game and you make the playoffs.

If Lincoln can get out of the region they would likely play Male, Trinity or St. X. Not trying to put down Lincoln but that is whole different league. Lincoln will be in the regional championship and they will play either Henry Clay, Scott County, or Lafayette and I know first hand that all of these teams are about equal if not better than PRP. Dunbar played PRP and they were very average at best. Henry Clay has a lot more speed than PRP. If I had to bet money I would say one of the Lexington District teams would be the favorite to win this region but Lincoln has a nice shot to win it but I don't think anyone out of this region gets to the state finals.

Woodford could be sitting in a great situation right now. Playing Tates Creek with possibly their best player out and then if they beat Tates Creek could open the playoffs with Lafayette a team that they were up 10 points on in the second half and let the game slip away.

Catholic didn't play in the Bluegrass Bowl this year because they had a one game suspension. I think there has been some talks for future games but nothing certain. I know some Fayette Coaches want to play Lexington Catholic but they would like to do it a Home and Home series so the Publics and Catholic can both have a huge gate when the game is at their place instead of Catholic getting the big gate for the bowl game and writing out a X number for a check.

An email was sent out by the Board of Education to all head coaches in Fayette County in the spring that you are now aloud to schedule Lexington Catholic. I know the head coach very well and he has told me nothing of this and the Assistant Principal, and the AD at Dunbar knew they were playing Catholic and there is nothing wrong with it.

Scott County had 7 in the box with a four across look in the secondary. Dunbar did throw an interception in the third quarter. A very big pick as well when the ball was at Scott County's 35 yard line 1st and 10. Scott County runs the ball out of Wing T every play. Very easy to scout cough cough, my bad they are 7-2 But I guess when Dunbar runs their Wing T that has been deemed fullback dive out of a million formations by the "smart play callers":rolleyes:

And what plays should have been called Friday Night that would have won Dunbar the game?

The Boycott is over. It was finished this spring. Lexington schools can schedule who ever they want to.

The playoff system has always worked like this. First seeding is done by the teams with better record. Henry Clay, Lafayette, and Scott County will have the same record (assuming Scott County wins next Friday). Since step one can not decide the champion they go to Head to Head competition. If you go by that you will have Henry Clay beating Scott County, Lafayette beating Henry Clay and Scott County beating Lafayette. It's a three way circle so to speak. Then they to the three way tie breaker. Three way tie breaker is done off of your wins by your non district victories. I'm pretty sure Henry Clay is ahead of both, Lafayette second and Scott County third even though I haven't fully added them up yet. To answer your question I don't think there is much of a chance for Scott County to get a home playoff game now.

To win this region is St. X going to have to 1. Beat Manual 2. Then Beat Male 3. Then Beat Trinity? If this is true that is a nasty road to go on.

If there is a three way tie it goes to non district opponents wins. Scott County lost to Lexington Catholic which hurts them. I think they beat Wayne County as well which doesn't have a great record if I'm not mistaken. Lafayette and Henry Clay both went undefeated but they both beat Boyle so that's a was on that one, but Henry Clay beat Pikeville, Bell, and Christian which should put them over the top of Lafayette if a three way tie takes place.

There was lightning at the Dunbar vs. Tates Creek game. That's why is was finished on the following Monday. Scott County is a very good football team. Maybe a step behind Henry Clay but I would give them the nod over Lafayette and everyone else in the region even though they would have to beat Henry Clay to make it to the Regional Championship game anyway.

Dunbar did pass a little more last year but Chris Franklin was a senior at quarterback along with Will Wright, Fullback, Mike Sweat Tailback, Keith Bailey Wide Out, and Jeremy Bruck Wideout with a couple of other senior receivers who played as well at receiver. Dunbar had the most returning players at the offensive line on offense. Jerrell was the only skill kid that was returning who had a little playing time from last year and he was out for the first four games. Dunbar is young now but very good in the sophmore class. Let's be real here too. Dunbar didn't exactly play Lafayette non district schedule either. I would like to see Lafayette, Tates Creek etc. play MBA, Ryle, PRP, and maybe the easiest was Madison Central who Tates Creek beat in overtime as well as Dunbar. Their records would change a little too.

No one seemed to have a problem with Dunbar's system last year. Why now? Please no one say that last year's Dunbar team was left over players from the previous coaching staff. The last year at Dunbar before Coach Hensley they were 4-6 with not making the playoffs and then they go 10-3 with a regional runner up. The offensive system is fine. It scored points last year for Dunbar and three years at East Jessamine and even 21 points on the 3A State Champion Highlands so I really don't think that is a very good argument.

From year to year, Rockcastle has one of the best "run stopping defenses" in the state. They motivate their defensive line to cut, crawl, bight, scratch, do anything to get the offensive line going backwards. They also jump around in some weird defensive looks to cause teams problems. If I would say over the years Rock's defensive weakness would be against the pass because of their unique style. Lexington Catholic has had success on them a few times in the past but those Catholic teams were pretty good too. Rock takes a lot of pride when teams come to Mt. Vernon and play them there. Not too many teams have come to Rockcastle and had their way with them. I remember Highlands beat up on the Rock their a while back but Rockcastle returned the favor a couple of years later with Marty Reagon and Aaron Anderikan's team. Lets be honest, in Mt. Vernon you can go to Renfro Valley, go to the Bingo Hall on the hill, or watch Rockcastle play football. Football is a big deal there and it always will be for the players and the community.

I know, but I think someone else did so I wanted to merge two answers into one.

Dunbar's main problem is they lost all of their skill kids from last year except Jerrell Greene who played a little bit and he has been hurt until last week. As a whole there is a new quarterback, fullback,tight end, both wide out receivers, really a new tailback as well but Jerrell did play some last year. Dunbar did not have one kid returning who caught a pass last season and only one I believe who had more than 7 or 8 carries all season (Jerrell Greene) and he has been out all season till the Woodford game. The defense had a lot of returning starters and that's why they look much better now. Dunbar had about half of the lineman returning and they were hoping that they could carry the team but Dunbar's rushing attack hasn't been what everyone excepted it to be for now. The problem is not play calling it's execution. I also believe Dunbar has lost the turnover ratio something like 13 give aways to 2 take aways this season. That never helps. I know Greg Couch very well and he has coached with David Hensley at Dunbar and at East Jessamine and there were years at Dunbar and at East Jessamine where he wasn't there. David Hensley always made the play scripts, David runs the offensive practices and all of the offense that goes on Friday Night he checks out himself in practice during the week. Also, the majority of the time David calls the offense on Friday night when Couch was with him or not. I know Greg has the "Couch" name and everything but let's be realistic here before coming to East Jessamine David Hensley had been coaching for about 15 years while I think Greg Couch coached 1 at Madison Central. Believe me when I tell everyone the offense has always been run through David Hensley.

David Hensley has pretty much always called the plays. There have been spots over the years where he lets other people do it but not a lot. He makes the offensive script. It was the same when Greg Couch was with him and it was the same for the two seasons Couch wasn't there. For four seasons at EJ and Dunbar points have never been a problem and one season comes along and the blame shouldn't go to the coaching staff. He runs the same plays now as they always did and there isn't a 'Higher Level of Competition" now either. David Hensley's last year at East Jessamine he beat Woodford 56-6 running the same offense that Dunbar lost to Woodford this week 6-0. Players have to perform.

Yea, he is still coaching and he likes to make a late night McDonalds run after the games with his wild bandit crew is what I have been told.

I would agree if all districts were equal where everyone made the playoffs like the other sports you mentioned, but it isn't fair when some teams make the playoffs who have non won a district game when other teams have too. In Basketball you don't say Bryan Station has to win 5 Basketball games to make the playoffs while Tates Creek can win O and make the post season.

There was also the EKU vs. WKU on Saturday and that game draws people from all over the country into Richmond. I'm sure there are many St. X fans and former players who have ties to EKU and WKU who attended the game instead of the Highlands St. X game.

What I don't like is next year in the Lexington 6A district there is only four teams. Dunbar, Henry Clay, Lafayette, and Tates Creek so no one will have to win a game to make the playoffs. Either we don't need 6 classes, the district needs to be re shuffled, or we need to change the playoff format to where only two teams from your district makes the playoffs. Not winning a district game and making the playoffs is a joke.
