Scott Co. 19 Dunbar 7

Featured Replies

I was told Dunbar was up 7-6 with less than 5 minutes to go in the game.

so whats the deal with Dunbar? I thought a couple of years ago when they hired Hensley the school/community said he was the man to take them to the next level... are they just down in talent this year??? I just remember reading all the threads here on BGP about what an awesome coach he is so I'm a bit perplexed... is this merely a down year?

Hensley is a great man and a great coach. This is his first losing season as a head coach, and he will get things fixed this off season. They have had some injuries, bad breaks, and a tough schedule. Be patient with him. It is always so easy for fans to criticize coaching. They are just having a down year.

I can't recall the exact time Scott Co. but it was in the single digits.

Around this time Dunbar 4th and 3 on Scott Co. 3 yard line goes for it instead of field goal. Scott Co. Stuffs them and turn it around for a touchdown(97 yrds.) 12/7 now. With approx. 3:40 on the clock Dunbar with no time outs starts passing. Turn over on downs with aprox. 2:20 left. Scott Co. has it now around Dunbar 35 yard line. Well the rest is history; I assume you guys know the rest of the story. :thumb:

Two Words will greatly explain Dunbar's horrible season. Are you ready? Here it goes! PLAY CALLING.

And what plays should have been called Friday Night that would have won Dunbar the game?

they had great success witht the passing game in the first half, i think their qb colby haney was kike 3 for 4 for some good yardage. They were getting completions with quick outs that were gaining 10 yards a pop. but they didnt really throw again until they were down late in the 4th w/ no timeouts. then they threw the ball 4 straight times in a row. i wasnt at the game, but i agree that play calling is a serious issue. and i know that ppl say "well the offense worked last year". well last year dunbar threw the ball about 20 times a game instead of 3 times a game. Teams this year dont respect the pass at all and put 8 guys in the box and just come after dunbar. how can so many teams with less talent be so effective with playaction pass and the short 3 step drop passing, but dunbar coaches wont give their kids that oppertunity. and when they have, they completely pull the plug after one completion. I dont care if you have an all american backfield, any team can stop you if you run fb dive and hb off tackle 40 times a game. It also makes you a very hard team to scout. Cough cough

Scott County had 7 in the box with a four across look in the secondary. Dunbar did throw an interception in the third quarter. A very big pick as well when the ball was at Scott County's 35 yard line 1st and 10.

Scott County runs the ball out of Wing T every play.

Very easy to scout cough cough, my bad they are 7-2

But I guess when Dunbar runs their Wing T that has been deemed fullback dive out of a million formations by the "smart play callers"

Whether you are talking about Scott County running the Wing-T, Henry Clay running the spread offense, Madison Central running the Run and Shoot, Tates Creek running the Power I, or Dunbar running fullback dive out of a million formations; it all comes down to players executing. Players have to block and make plays. Coaches are coaches for a reason and are going to put their players in the best position to win the game. The play calling at Dunbar is what it is because the coaches think that gives them the best chance to win. Obviously, Dunbar doesn't have the same skill leveled players as they have had in the past and throwing the ball 25 times a game would hurt their cause even more.

They are 0-9....OFER!!!!! A down year is 5-5, 4-6, 3-7, or even 2-8! Not 0-9.

It's been said...Great coaches find a way to win with lessor talent!

Last week when they played Scott Co. was the first game they played agianst a team that was not undefeated when they played them. They are having a down year, with injuries and bad luck, and bad luck with the draw of the schedule.
