Madison Central 55 South Laurel 20

Featured Replies

Final score.

Good win for Madison Central. The game was sloppy at times for both teams and could have been a lot worse. South had a couple long pass plays but other than that not much offense. MC looked good overall scoring through the air, on the ground, special teams, and defense (3 safeties).

SL looked really bad at times. Their defense is a 3-5-3, I think. Might as well be a 10-1 or a 2-8-1, no matter the call they looked pretty bad. The play calling was very suspect too. When they tried to go vertical on MC it worked, but they dinked and dumped the ball and never got anything going. Worst team in the district in my opinion.

MC is going to have their work cut out this week. A trip to Highlands is never good, but with a suspect defense it makes it even worse. They better learn to stop the run this week or it will be a long, long night. Also, too many penalties once again. Seems like there is a holding call on every offensive possession and a facemask call while on defense. Indians have their work cut out for themselves the next few weeks.

Were you the crazy guy who kept yelling to get into the 40 defense and get out of the 3-5-3 defense?

No I was the guy yelling at them to run fullback dive instead of incomplete pass, screen for 3 yards, sack, punt.:sssh:

Oh wait, Chappel was the one yelling punt all night.

Out of a million formations I guess.:p

No Dunbar wasn't playing tonight.

Does this pretty much eliminate South Laurel from the playoffs?

Good point. I know you like more of the "Lonesome Polecat" offense with Cheese Soup left as your secret play.

They have to be the worst team in the district. I have seen SL, Madison Central, Whitley, and Montgomery. I know GRC and Lincoln will beat them badly. They already lost to North Laurel.

South has a lot of issues and I am not sure they will be able to salvage this season.

It's not a secret, Urban Meyer ran it last week and scored against UK.:walk:

Here's the story on the game from today's Richmond Register:

By Les Dixon

Corbin Times-Tribune

LONDON — Madison Central coach Kenny Turner admitted coming into Friday’s game with South Laurel his team needed to score quickly to set the pace.

So when it was announced the Indians (5-2, 2-1) won the coin toss, Turner went against his usual decision to play defense first and decided to take his chances on offense and the decision paid off.

It only took Central six plays to put up the first points of the game, as Chaz Hope and Ricky Rhodes hooked up for a 15-yard touchdown reception, which led to an easy 55-20 win over district foe South Laurel in London.

After watching this one South's coaching needs to think long and hard about using this 3-5 defense , it doesnt stop anyone. Also the coaching calls on either side of the ball werent good in my opinion. On offense South still just tried to air it out even though they did mix alittle run in this game. South was without Cody Quinn(38) and they used Randy McQueen(34) on offense but he isnt back to 100% yet. South needs to change there defense , and have a more balanced offensive attack. From what I saw the boys were playing hard , coaching hasnt helped them much this year.

Seems like everyone knows that you can run the ball pretty much at will on SL right now.

You're right, the defense is doing almost nothing.

Big gains against it all year.
