After watching this one South's coaching needs to think long and hard about using this 3-5 defense , it doesnt stop anyone. Also the coaching calls on either side of the ball werent good in my opinion. On offense South still just tried to air it out even though they did mix alittle run in this game. South was without Cody Quinn(38) and they used Randy McQueen(34) on offense but he isnt back to 100% yet. South needs to change there defense , and have a more balanced offensive attack. From what I saw the boys were playing hard , coaching hasnt helped them much this year.

I don't know why SL didn't try and go vertical more in the passing game. They had some success when they tried. Bowling had a lot of time, MC was in a prevent-type defense the whole night and rushed only 3 most of the game.

Also MC was giving SL the outside run, MC was in a 3-4 with the D-ends 5 yards off the ball spread out. SL could have picked up 5 or 6 yards anytime they wanted out of that look. Instead they ran screen after screen and picked up 2 yards or dropped the pass.

It didn't look like Chappel was calling the plays on either side of the ball, maybe he should.

South isn't out of the playoff hunt, but they cannot lose another game after starting 0-3 in district play. What concerns me isn't just that they have lost, but by double digits every time & 2 of those 3 losses came to teams who did not make the playoffs last season (NL and Lincoln). The defense has to step up. They often look confused on defense as if they aren't sure what they are supposed to be doing.

I know they have talent & I just hope they turn it around very soon. They have some very tough games ahead (GRC, Montgomery & Whitley) and need to win all 3 to have a shot at the playoffs.

From what ive seen Chappel doesnt make any of the calls , and when South was running the ball they were picking up positive yards. In my own opinion South would be better off with Bowling(2) calling the offense and Ledford(56) calling the defense.
