Dayton 67 Bellevue 59
I was being just a tad sarcastic... Agreed that both teams have been struggling, but Dayton is a MUCH better team now than they were early in the year. Mainly because they have made a commitment to defend. If they weren't such a bad free throw shooting team they would have about 3 more wins and the Beechwood game on Monday would have been much closer. Baby steps... I think that it looks much worse for Bellevue to lose this because of the score of the first game, but this Dayton team is completely different. Good thing for both teams is they are very young. Thanks, it's always great to beat Bellevue in anything.

You mean to tell me there scored above 60 in every game this year?

Dayton 67 Bellevue 59
Dayton started hot and held the lead from the first quarter on. Greendevils still have a lot of work to do, but this is a vast improvement from the first time these 2 met. Dayton hosts Lloyd tomorrow evening. Proceeds from the gate and raffle will go toward cancer research.

Holy Cross Freshman Tournament
It is his brother. He is a legitimate freshman. I have seen him starting at the varsity level for them also.

Holy Cross 72 Scott 71
I give the official a lot of credit for making the right call then, it would have been very easy to call that a 3 and I doubt he would have gotten many arguments from the home crowd.

Holy Cross 72 Scott 71
Didn't see him, would have made a HUGE difference IMO

Holy Cross 72 Scott 71
I'd like to see reb and ast stats, I'd bet Smith had a triple double. Would have liked to have a better view on that final shot, couldn't have been a half inch from overtime. Really fun game to watch

Bellevue 86 Dayton 64
It is non-sense. Last year was last year, I'm not going to go backwards. There were events surrounding that particular game that made things a little more heated then they should have been and that is also a "general consensus." If you want to re-hash that whole argument find the thread, if not move on like the rest of us... Read the whole sentence before commenting also...it was definitely misleading to say Dayton kept their starters in and kept pressing, unless of course you were talking about last year again I find it pretty sad that you (as an obvious Bellevue supporter) can't find anything good to talk about from the game, but instead choose to throw little jabs at the Greendevils. I guess that's class.... I'll say it again, the boys for Bellevue played hard and together. They did a lot of good things that deserve talking about much more than 1 game from the past...

Bellevue 86 Dayton 64
Good win by Bellevue. They did pretty much dominate, but Bellvue didn't take all of their starters out until late, whereas all of Dayton's starters were fouled out by the 4 min mark in the 4th so that is a little misleading. They also didn't drop into that zone until very late into the 4th quarter. The game was played even in the 2nd half after Bellevue lead 52-26 at half time. How about talking about the good things that Bellevue did last night? That is the real story, not any of this other nonsense. Good all around team effort by the Tigers, hopefully Dayton will be much improved the next time these teams meet.

New Newport Coach
What's the JV coach's name from last year? He seems like he would be a good hire IMO. He seems to really get the respect of the kids and also very knowledgable about the game. I don't think he works in the school system though and don't know if that would be a sticking point.

Sizemore Signs
Wow! Congrats to Boonie! G'Town definitely got a hard working, do whatever it takes kind of player. Best of luck to him.

Did the referees call the game different for Scott County?
Spot on. :thumb::thumb::thumb: It was disappointing to see one of the best players in the tournament (Jackson) not around at the end of one of the most exciting games (Scott Co. vs Ballard). I just can't understand why he would put himself in that position knowing he had 4 fouls. It also seemed like Hicks should have been doing more coaching than complaining. Scott Co. did not get jobbed, they just fouled a lot and did not do a good job at managinig their players fouls. I honestly think they benefitted from a few late calls in the Christian Co game. I honestly do not know the answer to this question, but could it be that Scott Co was used to getting a differently called game in their own region and they couldn't adjust?

Who would you vote for Mr. Basketball?
Justice hands down. He does things that just don't show up in a box score, like the tip pass up ahead for the break away layup in the 1st half of the Mason Co. game. Didn't force anything all week and made the plays that were in front of him. regardless of who Shelby played, they beat who was in front of them and that should be all that matters.

Biggest Upsets in 9th Region History
:thumb: Agreed! Foster has been the difference maker in most of the games I have seen this year. Darnell wasn't a bad player, but replacing him with Foster was huge for this team. Who else on the Newport roster could have withstood the Holmes pressure so well? No one, and that's not taking away from the likes of Sizemore and Tucker, but they just aren't close to the ballhandler that Foster is.

BBA - No Accountability
I love this post. My name is on that suspension list and it's absolutley absurd that I was ejected in the first place. An official comes into a game and has problem with you asking about calls, not yelling mind you, and he becomes judge jury and executioner...as a coach your hands are tied, it doesn't matter that the official didn't follow protocal after administering the first technical and continued to egg it on because when he turns in his ejection paperwork it becomes fact that what he says happened is truth. I wouldn't agree that most officials are jerks, because I actually think most of them are great guys, but there are the few that take what little power they have way too far, but when criticising those few officials you then become the bad guy. What gives?

Newport 60 Holmes 34
Great recap! I believe that Luther's block was the key play in this game. At the time Holmes had went on a run and the momentum was starting to turn in their favor, if they make the shot the lead would have been cut to 10, but Luther ERASED those hopes real quick. Haven't seen anyone get off the floor as fast as he does in a long time. Congrats to Newport and good luck at Rupp!

Newport/Covington Catholic Predictions
I'll take Newport by 9. One thing I've noticed about Newport is they will allow the other team to dictate the tempo of the game. Last night the game didn't get blown open until Ryle put the press on to speed them up, which IMO played right into Newport's strength (I know time and situation dictated putting the press on). That is why I think Cov Cath will have a chance to keep it close, if they slow it down and make Newport play defense for 30+ seconds at a time. If I'm Newport I sit in a zone and beg the Colonels to shoot. As someone else posted, there wasn't one outside shot taken by Cov Cath that had any confidence behind it and if you don't think you'll make it you more than likely won't. I might not even put anyone above the free throw line until they make a shot. Of course I have only seen Cov Cath once and seen Newport about 7, so my POV could be a little skewed based on sample size.

Newport 62 Ryle 46
Great post! Those calls really stuck out to me too, just horrible. I have to give credit to Foster on keeping his composure after being the victim of a couple of those terrible calls.

I'll be there for the first one, but have to get out before the 2nd game starts unfortunately.

Pendleton 55 Harrison 49
Congrats to PC! Good luck on a good showing in the regions! I guess this means another week of playing without one of their asst. coaches in our men's league :lol: but I'm sure that's a pretty good trade off for him.
