Your Daddy Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I dont' want to beat a dead horse. Everyone has seen the video from the Henry Clay vs. Franklin County game, and know the refs screwed up. However, as the very next game in the 11th region tournament was set to tip off, I was astonished to see Bo Queen on the floor to call the Scott County vs. Tates Creek game. Is there no accountability for these officials at all? No ref from the HC vs. FC game should have been allowed to call any game the rest of the post-season. Franklin County was sure had liked to have another game, and I bet those 7 seniors and 3 senior managers would like to have had a chance to move on in the tournament, but they were denied that. There season was over, and at the very least the 3 officials responsible should have had there season concluded as well. Not to mention that Bo had the best angle of the player and the shot as time expired, and the fact that he did nothing to right the call should be enough to keep him off any of the rest of the post-season games. Every year, I hear how great the officials are in the BBA, and that they are the best in the state. Every year I say they are terrible, and with the latest round of poor judgments and a definite lack of accountability, I think it is time for the 11th region to go out of region for the tournament. The rest of the state can't possibly be any worse that this, and at least they would call without bias and without the large chip on their shoulders!

Every official I have spoken with in the region has asked to go out for years. Hopefully it will finally happen. I do know they all lost the opportunity for a regional final and there will be suspensions into next year.
GRC4LIFE Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 BBA is a joke. Everybody praises Lennox for being one of the best too, and well I just don't see it. If he's known as the best of the group... that should tell you something. :sssh: I have seen some very well called games though so not all refs are a lost cause!
GRC4LIFE Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 http://www.vimeo.com/9929282 Wow, that isn't even close. Those refs should be ashamed of themselves and shouldn't be allowed to ref another high school game again! :madman:
Touch The Line Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Regardless of who the refs are in any game, people are going to be displeased with the performance of the crew. However, these refs were selected to work the Regional Tournament for a reason. I think it is unfair to say that certain crew members should not be allowed to work any more games or be completely dismissed because of one bad call. Now, that was a huge call, but if any other person in their own profession made one mistake, would it be fair to fire them from their job?
ColonelMike Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 OMG! :scared::scared::scared: An instant Top 10 Worst Refereeing Decisions Ever Made. It would have been one thing if the no-call had been something on the periphery of the play. But the officials know it's the final seconds of the game; the time/buzzer should have been foremost on their minds, and this is so mind-bogglingly obvious it's beyond amazing how a full crew could have missed it. My heart goes out to the Franklin kids...

I was astonished as well when I saw him running out. Again, I mentioned on the other thread that people make mistakes. But, to put someone directly involved in the next game was a joke. After seeing that, it wouldn't surprise me if the other two are in tomorrow's championship game.

Now, that was a huge call, but if any other person in their own profession made one mistake, would it be fair to fire them from their job? I am not saying they should be banned for life or anything like that, but there should be consequences for mistakes. Every other profession has some sort of accountability for mistakes. Again, the BBA claims to be the best every year. When I walked into the girl's regional final and see Clayton Brooks, Gary Wilson and Kevin Letcher calling the game, you have to wonder . . . If those are the best 3 officials we can put on a floor for a regional championship, then there is no one that can argue with me that the BBA is the best group of officials. Mediocre at best!!
mcpapa Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 It will be interesting to see who calls tonight's 10th Region final.

Big Slick Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I am interested to see who calls the 10th final as well. I have not seen the replay due to it being blocked here at work, but some posts on here are talking about refs that I think are quality officials.
mcraycraft Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Who was the lead ref for this game? Who signed the official scorekeepers book? My understanding was that the ref out by mid court was the lead ref in this game. And if that is true and he was the one that made the call of no basket then he is to blame for not consulting with the other two officials on the play before making the decision.
