  1. You're right, I don't know how bad it is and that is why I asked those questions. Thanks for answering instead of chastising me for an opinion.
  2. Let me start by saying that I know nothing about GC....with that being said, are you guys in school with these kids or in practice everyday? Do you know about kids' attitudes in practice, if they are getting in trouble in school, if they are good teammates, coachable in practice, do they respect the coaching staff and do what they are asked behind closed doors? All of those can be HUGE factors when it comes to playing time. Just because you know a kid is better than the one playing ahead of him does not mean that he should be out there. Are we forgetting that this is high school and that coaches are shaping young men for the future? Sometimes playing time is the only way to reach a kid and to get him to understand that attitude and effort matter in practice and in the classroom. I just think it is very short sighted to think just because you know that the kids on the bench have more talent than the ones playing that they should automatically be in the game. It's also a bit cheap in my opinion to blame all the team's shortcomings and losses on the coach, but when they win you guys act like it was in spite of him. You can't have it both ways. Again, I know nothing about the school, team or coach, but just would like to know how close you guys actually are to the program to make the statements that you make. I understand being disappointed when you feel your team should have a better record, but sometimes the issues are deeper than just rolling a ball out and letting your best five players play.
  3. I agree 100% it was a bummer for those kids. But it's also a bummer for every group of kids that don't make the regional tournament. If they were meant to make noise in the region that year, they would've taken care of business in that double OT (or was it triple?) loss to Cov Cath when Holy Cross was the district #1 seed. I have no dog in the fight either, but the districts being grouped geographically makes far better sense than moving districts around because of recent success (or lack thereof) of 3 or more district members.
  4. This is hilarious, because Holy Cross hasn't been able to get to region someone needs to move out? That is such an ego centric view and to think that would somehow bring more parity to the 9th region is also laughable. All teams and districts go in cycles, up and down, this district is no different than any other. That would be like moving some of the Louisville teams out of the 7th region to get more parity at the state tournament. How would you feel about that argument?
  5. The Summit View middle school coaches are class acts! This doesn't surprise me because those men have always been great to deal with when they come down to Dayton for our Holiday Tournament. Congrats to Michael!
  6. Final from Florence. Dayton picks up their 6th win of the season with a balanced scoring attack led by Junior Noah Patton with 14 points. Senior guard Derek Lyons narrowly missed a triple-double recording 9 pts, 12 rebs and 9 assists. Dayton takes on Calvary at home on Thursday. Heritage was led by guard Sam Wood who scored a game high 20 points. Heritage travels to Silver Grove on Friday to take on the big trains.
  7. This response really helps me to understand why it isn't called as much as I thought it should be. I thought it was black and white and it was just missed THAT MUCH, but thanks for the insight now I won't argue that call as much
  8. Yes I believe he did. And sorry to instantly criticize, I should've led with "great work Walter!" Great read and a lot of good insight.
  9. I'm obviously not a fan of theirs and I don't think they are top 10 in the region, but I would at least like to see Bellevue mentioned in this thread. They are on a 5 game winning streak, above .500 on the season now and have had a couple really great performance from players. Just a line or two would do justice. And believe me, it hurts deeply to say that....
  10. Is it a walk when a player tries to execute a pro hop and their feet do not hit the floor at the same time? This is one I see an awful lot and have always thought it was a travel, but I very rarely have seen it called that way.
  11. Simply put: YES! I have been a big fan of Coach Ruthschatz (sp?) since his first coaching clinic he had here in No. Ky. The system he has is top notch and now with recent success they are seeing an influx of talent that will more than likely become greater and greater.
  12. Are these in order of how they will be played too? For instance, 9th vs 10th will be first game of the Wednesday evening session?
  13. I am guessing that he can recover the credits that he lacks to become eligible in this semester and then apply to be eligible in the second semester. He could recover these credits through online classes. Not sure on their district policy for how many can be recovered per semester, but 2 would seem very feasible. Bylaw 5 Section 2 b) Too much to type in that bylaw
  14. He comes from a long line of Brewers that graduated from Dayton, great family, great kid and most importantly he is a great student!
  15. Count me as one that thinks he definitely could've started at those schools. I think you guys are underestimating the effect of competition in practice. I think with the rest of the players on the rosters of those teams you mentioned pushing him every day that he would've been an even better player at one of those schools. I watched all 4 schools (Ludlow included) several times last year and could name specific players he could've started over but that's not fair to those players to name them like that. As far as doubting Pelle from Silver Grove, you prove the very point you are trying to argue against by making that statement. People doubted him and he only went on to be D2 player of the year and go on to make a living in Europe for a few years, so I guess everyone was wrong on that kid. I value your opinion on most things and really appreciate the work you put into this site, but I think you are off on this one. Just my 2 cents.
  16. From what I understand, there is only a Middle School Advisory Board at the moment and KHSAA is yet to take the middle school under their umbrella. I may be wrong, but I would think that schools would be ok to schedule/play you guys for at least this season and until the government of middle school if fully under the KHSAA umbrella.
  17. Everything I have read about this kid has been very complimentary of his game. With that being said, what are some of his strengths to watch for this season? Just curious as I know our boys open up with them this year and I don't know much about them at all. Thanks
  18. Anyone know anything about them this year? I'm hoping to see them improve on last year's record and at least reach double digit wins.
