  1. I agree that this was far from being tragic, but it could have major implecations in the playoff seeding. Terrible missed call, I agree the Durant could have sold it better, but it was still an obvious foul.
  2. If the ping pong balls fall right, Wall to the Nets. I want to see this because they have a possibly dominent post player in Lopez, a pretty decent young core and a lot of cap room so I think they could follow the Thunder model if they spend their money right. Cousins I would like to see play for Golden St because it seems like it would be an easy transition for him. They run and shoot quick shots and don't play much D. He could improve the d by guarding the rim and I think he could get a lot of offensive rebounds and putback opportunities in that system. He would be able to play freely, but he would really need to hit the treadmil. I would like to see Patterson go to the Bucks or the Kings, obviously the Bucks have a better team right now so that would be my first choice, but I think he could play over a lot of the forwards on the Kings roster. I think Orton could fit in real well with the Thunder. He needs a few years to mature, but this team has so much young talent he could definitely be contributing during the prime years of their core players. The length that team would have would be ridiculous. And I would like to see the Spurs draft Bledsoe. He could easily play alongside George Hill or Ginobli. A good back up plan for when Parker gets hurt, he would need a couple years too though to really contribute. What are your thoughts?
  3. From what I've seen of him, Polson has a very high basketball IQ, can handle the ball really well with either hand and under pressure, finishes arouns the basket with both hands and can get his teammates involved with some nice passing. I would love to see him get the chance to walk on because Uk fans need some guys like this to root for. We know he'll be there 4 years if he gets the chance and he's a home grown kid. When he gets into the weight program and adjusts to the speed of the game I don't see why he couldn't be a role player eventually. I do think he would need to get stronger and become a lights out shooter to make any real contributions, but I would love to see him get the opportunity. If he's determined and gets to practice against the kind of talent that Cal has been bringing in everyday, who knows how much he could improve.
  4. This argument is ridiculous, you get the best players you can. 1 and done or otherwise. The numbers are obviously skewed because of the amount of great high schoolers who went straight to the league from Garnet to Howard. If some of those guys would have spent 1 year in school there would be a few more 1 and doners with rings. If UK would have won the title would Digger and the likes be talking about 1 and done as the way to go? 35 wins are obviously not enough to be deemed a success
  5. Willy Mo for sure, the Tony Mandarich of the Reds
  6. I don't get where 8 championships is coming from either, there are 8 between Jordan and Hakeem alone.
  7. I'd have to go with 84, in addition to the players mentioned above, you had Sam Perkins, Alvin Robertson, Otis Thorpe, and Kevin Willis. A whole lot of depth in that class. 2003 class is pretty top heavy with quite a few of today's top tier players, but it's hard to see them surpassing the careers of Jordan, Olajuwon, and Barkley
  8. I totally agree, Miller was the best perimeter defender that they had, he played great in the tournament (leading the team in scoring against Wake and shutting Wittman down against Cornell), and he's a home grown Ky Boy. I would absolutely hate to see him leave.
  9. I agree that Oroton could use some more seasoning for sure. But anyone who doubts he could or should be a top 20 pick needs to go back and look at NBA draft history, it is a complete crap shoot. If guys like Dampier, Diop, the Collins brothers, and Robin Lopez can get drafted first round and play multiple years I think Orton will be just fine. All he needs to do is make it to that 2nd contract to be set for life and that should be right about the time he starts to come into his own at the NBA level.
  10. I think you're exactly right, he does have a nice shot. I was just trying to make the arguement over his shooting ability moot by comparing him to defensive minded point guards who couldn't shoot.
  11. There have been plenty of NBA point guards with avg. handle and shots that have made it in the league. If Bledsoe can turn his speed, quickness, and athleticsm into being a lock down defender then there is no reason why he won't have a long career. I think of a guy like Eric Snow, couldn't shoot a lick until the later half of his career and even then his range didn't extend much past the free throw line and he played forever because of his defense. Bledsoe can work his way into that, but he is already leaps and bounds ahead on being able to shoot the ball.
  12. Any rumors on JUCO's? I know they have been in contact with Vargas who played for Florida last year, but I would think they would look for a couple given the amount of players they could potentially be losing.
  13. Ding, ding! I was waiting on someone to mention this. They will all probably be advised to go now while there is money out there. If they wait another year they could get caught without a job if the lockout actually happens.
  14. Using your logic, why is the Duke game #1 for you? It seems that the circumstances were the exact same for that game as they were for the WVU game, except for the fact that Uk wasn't expected to win the Duke game. They were a program just getting started after some dissapointing seasons. 1. Arizona in 97 2. Mich St.- I loved Chuck Hayes and didn't want to see him go 3. Marquette- Bogans getting hurt killed us 4. UAB- Taylor bothers burst onto the scene and quickly burned out 5. WVU- I am very happy with what this team accomplished and it is hard to have such high expectations for freshman, but I just can't see another class like this coming along for a while. Just to clarify, I'm only 27 so these are the worst that I've seen. And I did cry at the Duke loss in 92, but I was really too young to understand at the time.
  15. Looks like Orton found his offensive game right in time...he has made some good post moves and some very difficult shots so far in the tournament. I have thought that he is a can't miss defensive prospect, but there is no doubt that his offensive outburst of late has made his draft stock sky rocket. I think, barring any major injuries, Orton is an 8-10 year player at least. He will definitely be able to defend from the center position on the next level and that alone could make him some big bucks. Hopefully he comes back and becomes a 5-10 pick instead of leaving now and getting drafted at the end of the 1st.
  16. Pretty sure he went 14th to the sixers, if not, it was somewhere from 14-18
  17. Spot on. :thumb::thumb::thumb: It was disappointing to see one of the best players in the tournament (Jackson) not around at the end of one of the most exciting games (Scott Co. vs Ballard). I just can't understand why he would put himself in that position knowing he had 4 fouls. It also seemed like Hicks should have been doing more coaching than complaining. Scott Co. did not get jobbed, they just fouled a lot and did not do a good job at managinig their players fouls. I honestly think they benefitted from a few late calls in the Christian Co game. I honestly do not know the answer to this question, but could it be that Scott Co was used to getting a differently called game in their own region and they couldn't adjust?
  18. Justice hands down. He does things that just don't show up in a box score, like the tip pass up ahead for the break away layup in the 1st half of the Mason Co. game. Didn't force anything all week and made the plays that were in front of him. regardless of who Shelby played, they beat who was in front of them and that should be all that matters.
  19. I agree with the fact that Pearl did a great job after those guys got in trouble and Smith was gone for the year, but (I know I'll take a little heat for this) I think he has to take some responsibility in what happened because those are the types of players he brings in-thugs. I know it's not his job to keep track of his players every move, but he's not completely innocent IMO. I can't stand Pearl either so I guess that factors into my opinion.
  20. :thumb: Agreed! Foster has been the difference maker in most of the games I have seen this year. Darnell wasn't a bad player, but replacing him with Foster was huge for this team. Who else on the Newport roster could have withstood the Holmes pressure so well? No one, and that's not taking away from the likes of Sizemore and Tucker, but they just aren't close to the ballhandler that Foster is.
  21. I love this post. My name is on that suspension list and it's absolutley absurd that I was ejected in the first place. An official comes into a game and has problem with you asking about calls, not yelling mind you, and he becomes judge jury and executioner...as a coach your hands are tied, it doesn't matter that the official didn't follow protocal after administering the first technical and continued to egg it on because when he turns in his ejection paperwork it becomes fact that what he says happened is truth. I wouldn't agree that most officials are jerks, because I actually think most of them are great guys, but there are the few that take what little power they have way too far, but when criticising those few officials you then become the bad guy. What gives?
  22. I think the Mavs got robbed in the finals when the Heat beat them. Can't blame it all on officiating, but they couldn't even breathe on Wade without getting a foul called. I'm buying them as a legit contender, especially having Butler as another consistent offensive threat.
  23. Great recap! I believe that Luther's block was the key play in this game. At the time Holmes had went on a run and the momentum was starting to turn in their favor, if they make the shot the lead would have been cut to 10, but Luther ERASED those hopes real quick. Haven't seen anyone get off the floor as fast as he does in a long time. Congrats to Newport and good luck at Rupp!
  24. I'll take Newport by 9. One thing I've noticed about Newport is they will allow the other team to dictate the tempo of the game. Last night the game didn't get blown open until Ryle put the press on to speed them up, which IMO played right into Newport's strength (I know time and situation dictated putting the press on). That is why I think Cov Cath will have a chance to keep it close, if they slow it down and make Newport play defense for 30+ seconds at a time. If I'm Newport I sit in a zone and beg the Colonels to shoot. As someone else posted, there wasn't one outside shot taken by Cov Cath that had any confidence behind it and if you don't think you'll make it you more than likely won't. I might not even put anyone above the free throw line until they make a shot. Of course I have only seen Cov Cath once and seen Newport about 7, so my POV could be a little skewed based on sample size.
