Steiner should have walked up to Mr Marksberry tonight and quit. Just like he did on his team.

 

Scott was going to win the game anyways but he sat on the bench and didnt even give it an effort. Taking the starters out half way through the third and not putting them back in was a BS move on his part. He took away any confidence these kids had gained from taking the best team in Nky down to the final seconds and quit on them. He gave up on the team and the the school. If he is not fired then he should do what he did to his team and give up coaching.

Lets hope the kids don't quit after this.

That's a pretty strong statement! Do you watch these kids day in and day out in practice? I'd leave the coaching to coach Steiner and the hiring and firing to Mr. Marksberry and the Pioneer administration.

The kids on that team have too much class and pride to quit.

This was a Valueable lesson for the SK players! They were getting out hustled, couldn't buy a rebound, so the coach did what he had to do to show he us serious! Either play hard, hustle and get rebounds or you will sit!

 

He put in the JV players while down about 19, and it ended up a 16 point game! The SK JV players did well VS the Scott starters the rest of the 3rd.

 

Sometimes a coach needs to show he is serious, hopefully this wakes up some of the players.

No I do not see them day in and day out in practice. Was you at the game tonight? Did you see how he sat on his butt almost the entire second half? He quit on the SK kids. I have never seen any coach do what he did to the SK team tonight.

I understand taking them out to prove a point. But take the starters out for the last 12 minutes of the game and just sit on your butt? That's not coaching that's giving up on the team you are supposed to be coaching. Maybe this is why he has a loosing lifetime record.

He is the one that sees the kids day in and day out so also like I said leave the coaching to the coach and the hiring and firing to the administrartion.

Sports guy you are right about being out hustled and rebounded. You teach a lesson by sitting them the rest of the quarter not 75% of the second half. During the Dixie game SK was down around the same amount of points as they were tonight and he coached them and they almost won. He quit on them tonight. I was at the game sitting around school employees and alumni several feel the same as I do.

PLEASE tell me you did not get an account to bash a coach, we had one last year from Campbell co, total nonsense.

 

Sometimes a coach needs to prove a point as you stated, but if you put them back in sometimes they forget that point. Coaches work hard with their teams and stress certain points, and when the team doesn't seem to remember those points, such as boxing out and rebounding, then players will be riding the bench.

EZ Living I respect your opinions. But really if there was a problem practice intensity why did he start 4 of his normal 5? All 5 would have started if Chambers was able to play. Like I said in another post sit them the rest of the quarter not the rest of the game.

I just hope they get the message loud and clear. Play hard, or don't play at all. In the long run it'll be best for the team, IMO.

Until you walk in the coaches shoes be careful how you judge him or her. I have seen many coaches criticized on here for their behavior with their team and right or wrong he or she is the coach and probably deserves the benefit of doubt on how they handle the situation. It is after all a meaningless out of region game to him and may prove to be useful in preparing his team for a game that does matter.
