OK, I guess...but I would say that 90% of coaches are doing the best they can and working hard for kids. I'd say a much more appropriate article would be: 5 ways that PARENTS ruin THEIR CHILD's football experience

I'd like to go on record as holding the belief that this is in fact, a "fast" 40 time.

Ho-hum...I still prefer the small local crowd atmosphere of most of KY's football games. Those big stadiums are neat and all, but if I want that, I'll go to a college or pro game. I like trees in the background, grill smoke rolling across the field, standing on the fence by the field, and dad's volunteering to work the chains. I get that the kids want the "big time" stuff, but for me, I'm just fine with the experience we get here in "small time" football America.

Never-mind...I'm withdrawing from this insanity.

The talk of tearing down Central and building a new school is comical. Their football team is down. That's about it. Baseball, while not great, did beat Greenwood to advance in the District Tourney Boys Basketball lost by 3 in the Regional Championship Boys Soccer was 13-6 in a BRUTAL District Softball, well, softball has never been their strong point. Girls Basketball was respectable at 13-17, a much better year than many they've had in the past! Girls Soccer was 17-5 Volleyball was 14-19 While none of this sets the world on fire, they are a far cry from this decimated scorched earth that they're being painted as. They still have 1,018 students at last accurate count. Have you seen the school? It's a very nice looking facility now, and a far cry from what it looked like in the "glory years" when it looked like a prison. I think we get too caught up in the "now" of the situation. If they're still down in 5 years, then I'd say you can claim that "they're done". But for anyone with a memory, Central went through a very similar change back in the mid and late 90's when the effect of Greenwood which opened in 1990 took a-hold of them. ...and dear South folks. The honeymoon of everyone wanting to go to the "new" school doesn't last forever. Just ask Collins High School. That, and in a year, the Spartans get to experience what the Dragons have had to deal with for all those years when they were very good.

You figure, You'd need close to 7,000 people per 5 home games, each paying $8. That'd give you home gates total of 280K. If you also got the concessions, and estimated each of those 7,000 people ate an average of 0.85 worth of concessions, you'd have a concessions haul for 5 home games of $29,750...that gives you over 300K. The real strength money wise is in the number of attendees.

That's a nice job for a guy to get who did little to nothing with a SEC back.

I predict only one thing matters for the coaches and players....

They'll field a team. Taylor will get kids out to play, that much I am pretty sure of. Now what is left for him to work with after all of this is debatable, but Central will have a team.

Huh? Based on his stellar work at Paducah? Or the number of trophies he's put in the cases of the teams he's coached? He's a good coach, but let's be realistic here.

It's not a reference to the coach, it's a point about the job. They had a good coach...they won 12 games in 6 years....with a GOOD coach. Someone said the word "appealing". The first sentence should help you understand why I am contesting the word "Appealing" here in reference to the job.

Am I the only one looking at the once proud and mighty Paducah Tilghman and wondering what has happened? Here are their last three head coaches... 1. A reluctant track coach 2. A guy who has never even won a Regional Championship 3. A guy with ZERO head coaching experience What has happened?

In six season's under Jones, Todd Co. won 12 games. I think Coach Jones is probably a good coach but the word "appealing" isn't one I'd throw around in any sense about that job.

You could have picked a little more of a competitive opponent for BG...:wave:

None of the other WCS have low numbers. East will have their normal 50-60, Gwood will likely be around 70, and south will probably be in the 60-70 range.

OC - Jack Haskins...if that happens, PT will roll.

Outside of the QB, they seemed to have some real size issues. Lot of sub 6'footers on that sideline. They should be better this year, but there's a buzz-saw in BG sitting in their way.

...and maybe most importantly, the ENTIRE system, all the way to Central Office, believes that success in ALL areas translates to academic success.

Every school in the BG area has benefited from a transfer...none can really point a finger... Damien Fishback - Basketball - Auburn signee - Mr. Basketball - Grew up in the WE area, played at Gwood. Josh Carrier - Basketball - UK signee - Mr. Basketball - Grew up in the WE are, played at BG Eli Brown - Football - UK signee - 4-star recruit - Grew up in the WC area, went to WE George Fant - WKU signee - Tremendous player - Grew up in the WE area, went to WC South hasn't really been around long enough for me to know who they've had, but I assure you, they'll get their's too. It all pretty much equals out in the end. Deal with the kids that show up at your door.

Think about this... UK has a spacious indoor facility.... UofL has a palace of an indoor facility... WKU Would smoke UK and UofL the last two years and they barely have a second OUTDOOR practice field, much less an indoor one. Indoor facilities are nice, but they hardly make much of a difference. Outside of Mayfield, look at the teams that have been named as having one. Also worth noting...of the 12 teams in the State Finals this year, I do believe (and I could be wrong here) only Mayfield has a functional true indoor facility.

No wonder, heck, KY has produced so many successful BBall players here lately....
