What does Christian County need to do to improve in 2016? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

HUGE Year upcoming for the Colonels!!! They were 8-4 last year and the losses came to BG (2), at Owensboro, and at John Hardin. No shame there!

 

Langhi is a very good QB and will be a JR (has started since his Frosh Year). Their main RB is also very good and also a JR. Their D-1 WR is a Senior and is a matchup nightmare for pretty much anyone they will face. Now is the time Colonels!

 

Problem is as it's always been on Defense. In the 4 losses (all against good teams), the Colonel D game up on average 45+ points per game. That's alot to ask your offense to make up for (Christian O averaged 21+ points in those games) What has or can change to think the defense can keep the Colonels in more games this year? I expect the Christian O to improve off a very good year last year, but what about the D?

 

The Colonel's travel to BG the second game of the season, which will be a tough task. However, I think they should focus on their new district rival, Owensboro, as they get the Red Devils at home this year and it sure would be nice to get home field for the playoffs. Don't count out Graves County either. They always seem to find a way to be in the conversation the past couple years anyway.

Christian County has to get better upfront on both sides of the ball to get where they need to be. Two years ago County's offense started 6 freshmen and 3 Sophomore's while playing two teams in Tennessee who made the state finials. So there is no more excuses of being young. Offensive line returns 3 starters including Courier Journal All-Stater Ross Whipple. Catlett will be faster and bigger than last year and should have a monster year. He should finish his career in the top 5 of all time in catching yards and total number of catches in KY high school history. RB/Slot Ziyon Kenner probably has the most upside of all County's players. As a Sophomore he had over 1,500 total yards of offense. He's been recruited by several big time programs and will be one of the fastest players in the state. He's already gain about 10 pounds of muscle mass. Langhi has had a terrify off season dropping basketball and baseball to concentrate on getting better. He's body looks stronger and has really increase his foot speed. I look for big improvements on Defense with the majority of players coming back. County's defense played well in the 2nd half against BG and will try to grow from there. DB Kenneth Majors & Corey trice will lead a very good defensive back field and look to see Catlett and Kenner playing more defense than last year. I know defense has been a point of interest in the offseason and I look for big time improvements.

Outside of the QB, they seemed to have some real size issues. Lot of sub 6'footers on that sideline.

 

They should be better this year, but there's a buzz-saw in BG sitting in their way.
