Maroon Fan

I must admit, I am all for a public/private split, but i am not naive enough (I hope no one else is that naive) to think "recruiting" doesn't go on at public schools as well. Not ALL privates & not ALL publics, but it does go on. It doesn't have to be a coach or administrator, it's usually a parent or friend of a student that goes to another school doing the dirty work without coaches even being aware of what's happening. By the way, when a school or coach gets fined, where does that money go? Does it go to a general fund, charity, or just someone's pocket in bonuses? Just wondering where it goes.

Didn't Somerset lose @ Casey earlier this year? Casey is a very underrated team IMO. That could be a good game. The Jumpers are a very good team this year, balanced all over the floor. This could be a region contending team by season's end.

I don't know what game you watched but it sure wasn't the same Red River Championship game we are discussing.

The ironic thing about all this is Dave Fraley came to Pulaski from Powell County. They even honered Dave Fraley a couple of weeks ago when Pulaski played Powell @ Pulaski.

You obviously haven't been to Pulaski since the early 90s then. The Maroons do not get "homer" calls as others get. Especially over the last 3 years. Just ask anyone who played them in the region & I'm sure they will tell you Pulaski does not get a favorable whistle anywhere. Not saying refs had a vendetta or anything, but there is PLENTY of game tape @ the high school that will make you shake your head.

WOW!!! How in the world could something like this go on for so long & nothing be done, or even mentioned about it by the KHSAA? Of course, a lot of those games were several years ago, but I would like to see the FT shooting discrepancy in the past year or 2 for Powell @ home vs. on the road. Pulaski simply destroyed Powell 2 weeks ago, winning by 30 @ Pulaski. So this team(Powell) gets 30 POINTS better in just about 2 weeks? Or, are they just that good on the "Home" court? I would hope that it is last time the Maroons have the "privilege" of participating in the "Keystone Cops" antics that take place in that gymnasium.

Powell County shot 35 free throws in the Championship game, compared to 5 by Pulaski County. Looks like Powell may have trouble getting teams to play in that tournament next year. The officiating was atrocious in each & every game of the tournament. Good luck finding suckers to come back next year. Oh, did the old ref get on the all-tournament team along w/ the Powell players? He was absolutely their MVP.

Pulaski County won Friday morning, defeating Newport Central Catholic in OT 63-62. PC was down by 20 in the 3rd qtr but battled back to get the win. Heard Shawn Whitis & Isaac Hart each had a very good 2nd half, pretty much taking over. Pulaski defeated Woodford County Thursday night, so w/ the 2 victories in pool play, PC will play in the Championship game Saturday night 6pm @ Powell County high school. Good luck PC!

I don't know anyone in that video, but it was a great video. We here in Pulaski used to play our own turkey bowl as well. This brought up those fond memories. Thanks for sharing this!

For me, Pulaski's first game of the season with Somerset. Great offensive game, not much defense. Somerset tied it with 4 minutes to go in the 4th, then the storms came and after a lengthy delay, the two teams came out of the locker room at 2 am and just slugged it out for 4 minutes... PC wins 62 - 49!

I have never witnessed anything like this before! I don't know how he was ejected w/ no T called along the way. I guess because he never made contact with another player they couldn't enforce one. Or, maybe the refs had never had this happen before either & didn't know how to handle it. I know I wouldn't have known what to do. That was absolutely crazy!! Pulaski needs to designate a ref watcher. They were called for a T for dunking during warmups against MC. They were doing same thing @ Clinton Co. when the refs were on the floor but, luckily for PC, the refs didn't see it.

I am watching the web stream, & these guys are awesome! Best broadcasters I've heard for high school games. The PA announcer is very good as well. All other announcers could learn a thing or 2 from these guys. This would be such a great game to be at live! The crowd is really into it. This is what high school football is all about.

Having the unfortunate opportunity to watch them beat my Maroons twice this season, I have to say that I haven't seen a group of LB'ers like Lincoln's in a long time. They are athletic, active, football smart and tough. You could see this in the JC game as well as in the 1st round against PC. I know that highlands is the insurmountable favorite, but I like the Pats chances in this game because of the unit.

1st, not a good thing to say about Somerset. DO NOT try to deminish what these kids have accomplished this year by enferring they get favorable officials at home. I take it from your name you're a Corbin fan, so you should be the LAST one to mention home field refs. 2nd, the officials from this game will not be from this area, they will be from somewhere else, as is the case in all playoff games. I am a huge Pulaski Maroon fan, but those kids across town have accomplished alot this year & deserve better than those comments. I don't think SHS will win, but I hope they make it a close game. The Maroons hung in there all night, just had 1 bad 5-minute stretch to start the 3rd Qtr, allowing a quick score then a fumble. Lincoln really reminds me of the Boyle Co. teams a few years back. They make you pay for every mistake. Just want everyone to know how proud we are of what the Maroons accomplished this year!! The Maroons will be in the mix for the next several years w/ all the youth, athletes, & speed coming back. Congrats to Lincoln on a District title & congratulations to Pulaski County on an historic year for Maroon football!

Another thing hurting him is the lack of quality opponents on Somerset's schedule. Non-district was pretty good, but the district was very weak. Cole didn't get the touches in a lot of those district games because they were blowouts. It would be great to see a kid from this area win it, though. Good luck John.

You won't see that defense again, not w/ the way Lincoln runs the ball. That defense was especially for SL & their air attack. PC will get after Lincoln though. The Maroons have to put a complete game together, not just a half.

I am not familiar with the play in question but overall I like the way the rule is in High School. I say the QB should throw or eat it. I hate watching College and Pro QB wasting time and throwing into the 4th row because the defense has beat your protection and your receivers can't get open. I know it is a wasted down but it penalizes the defense for being good. As far as rule interpretation, Every Ref has their own take on each rule. PC had been penalized in the past for uct blocking in the shotgun, but during Friday's game, they were told that as long as it was first contact, it was legal. We adjusted to it. It is a part of the game everyone needs ot understand. I don't care as long as it is called evenly and interpreted the msame for both teams. I get upset with officials who call games inconsistently between the two teams.

First of all, most of Lincoln points came in a 5 minute span where PC just played horribly. They blocked their own punt and gave Lincoln a short field and dropped the snap on the next one and gave Lincoln short field again. LC is too good a team to have these kinds of mistakes against and expect to keep them from scoring, but other than that is was back and forth all night. This time around I expect PC will play better. It will be a battle, that I know. PC will not roll over to Lincoln, they will not quit fighting. I think if any team is prime to take the next step this year it is PC. Also I said this in another thread. This district is loaded! It was a battle every week, even with SW (the team that was odd man out). And next year will be more of the same, since so many of these teams are young and talented.

This is by far one of the toughest districts in the state. For Mercer to be the 4 seed speaks volumes to the competition in the district. Good luck to Lincoln next week and Mercer in the rebuilding process for next year!
