  3. 1. Play very physical defense. (which Pulaski is capable of) 2. Defend the 3 point line . (which Pulaski is capable of) 3. When Young penetrates block his shot and or foul. (which Pulaski is capable of) 4. Dominate rebounding (which Pulaski is capable of) 5. Play a deliberate semi slow down offense and get the ball inside at every opportunity, Pulaski Co. should score at will if they can get the ball up the court and get the ball inside. The negatives are, can they do #2 and # 3 at the same time, by defending the three it will take away a lot of their help when Young gets in the paint. Fast breaks will also be to Lincoln's advantage, Pulaski will have to get back on defense. Pulaski's defense will be there, the big question is if they can limit turnovers and can get the ball inside.
  4. Lincoln is still the favorite and for good reason, but I believe they will be challenged or beat in their next one or two games. If Pulaski does not win they will at least beat them up a little, they play physical. Maybe that will give Somerset or West Jessamine a better chance of winning the following night in the finals.
  5. Somerset pulls out a tough defensive game. Neither team produced much offense but Somerset had a huge amount of steals. Coomer won player of the game.
  6. If Somerset can play defense like they did tonight against Wayne Co. I am going to predict Somerset winning the 12th by beating Pulaski Co. in the finals. Somerset will have their hands full with the winner of Boyle and West Jessamine, as will Pulaski with Lincoln but I believe it will come down to Pulaski playing Somerset. I think Somerset would have an easier game against Lincoln Co but it will surprise me if Lincoln can get past Pulaski Co.
  7. McCreary had an easy time defeating Somerset tonight. Somerset’s last two games were against the top two 12th region teams. But in my opinion Somerset should have won both of them. Lincoln and McCreary do not have an inside game, except dribble penetration. Both teams are, dribble penetrate or shoot the three. I will admit both are good at it, but it should not beat Somerset. I would rather face McCreary or Lincoln in the first game of the region, (if Somerset even gets that far), than play Rockcastle Co., Pulaski Co., Wayne Co., or Boyle Co. Somerset was not aggressive in the first half tonight against McCreary Co. they committed way too many unforced turnovers while just passing the ball across half court and just passing it around the three point line. It is a different story if you are attacking the basket and turning the ball over but most of Somerset’s turnovers were routine passes. Tonight against McCreary Bourne got the ball inside 2-4 times in the first half. Most of Somerset’s shots were from the outside; most were open, but most missed. In the second half Bourne got the ball a lot, nearly every time it resulted in a foul or points or both. If Bourne had received the ball in the first half like in the second it would have been a different ballgame. Half of McCreary’s players would have fouled out and Somerset would have had a better shooting percentage. Price also did a better job with dribble penetration in the second half. Somerset’s whole team played more aggressive also. Here is my solution to beat Lincoln and McCreary Co. (at least on the offensive side): 1. Play an aggressive defense the whole game. 2. Do not take a long outside shot, three or otherwise, unless the ball has been inside first, even if you are wide open. If the ball goes inside first, even if a shot is not available, and then comes back out the majority of the time it will result in a higher percentage shot then would have occurred if it hasn’t been inside. It will also place Somerset in better rebounding position. 3. There also needs to be more dribble penetration by Somerset. Whoever can beat their man, or can rub off a screen, Price, Dockery, Coomer, Fitzpatrick, Wallen or whoever else needs to get in as deep as possible and shoot a layup, or 10-12 footer, or pass deeper inside, or pass back outside for a three. There always needs to be an outlet back out if a shot is not available. 4. Bourne, or whoever else is posting up inside needs to get the ball every trip down the floor, (if a fast break is not available) or there needs to be dribble penetration by the guards, forwards. The post man needs to post up strong and good decisions need to be made passing inside, and as much time taken as needed to get it there, if they double or triple before the entry pass, that should open up dribble penetration. 5. If the ball gets inside as often as it should, Somerset’s post man will get doubled or tripled nearly every time they get it, if a high percentage shot is not available it needs to be passed out for an open shot or to be set up again. 6. That is the offense, fast break, post inside, dribble penetration, three pointer (only after the ball has been inside).

They were an ice-cold one of 15 from beyond the arc in the first half but found the range in the second half and connected on seven of 14 from long range. The 12th Region All-Stars connected on nine of 15 free throws and pulled down 59 rebounds. The 13th Region All-Stars shot 38.6% from the field including eight of 31 from the three point line. They connected on 13 of 18 free throws and grabbed 49 rebounds. The 12th Region All-Stars held a 20-10 advantage in second chance points.
  12. I would like to add that I admire Wayne County high school for having prayer before their games and also their display of the extra large American flag by the national guard students during the national anthem. It seems most school systems are afraid to show their support for what this country was founded upon.
  13. I look for a good game, hopefully faster paced than Somerset's past two games. Somerset 70 Wayne County 64
  14. Do you not consider West Jessamine a 12th region opponent for McCreary?
