The Cardinals have turned it around. Woods' Wayne County team is 7-2 over their last nine, including wins over Knox Central and Boyle County. The Cardinals two losses? Three and seven-point losses to #1 Lincoln and (#1/2 in 13th Region) Corbin, respectively.

Historically, Thacker's team has spiraled down-hill after the All "A" Classic. This year has started no different, losing two consecutive games including one in the tournament and an upset loss at county foe Pulaski. Three of the Jumpers toughest games of the year stare them in the face: @ #3 Wayne, @ #2 McCreary, and #1 Lincoln County.

 

It's a mix up after this. One of the following teams could be #5.

Didn't even think of that one. Yes, they beat the Raiders too. However, I have confidence that McCreary would beat them if the teams played again. West is falling apart right now.

I am assuming you're talking about West Jessamine, so I will put it this way:

Losing at home to East Jessamine? No offense to the Jags but they had two wins in the region before this: 3-18 Southwestern and Burgin.

 

Maybe I used the wrong word there, however, their 5-game winning streak was against opponents that have a 44-64 record.

 

How did they "seel" up the #1 seed? Their 3-2, compared to Mercer's 4-2.

Per the A-M in Danville, I believe Burgin's games with the Jessamines count twice. So a loss to West means they are 0-2. That would put Burgin 1-5, West 4-2 and Mercer 4-2, and East 3-3. I don't know about the tiebreaker.

 

Somebody clear this up for us!

Dont think West is falling apart- Florence thier 2 guard broke his arm in a game recently- seems the team has been doing a great job at keeping things going. Dont know many teams that would recover from losing such a statistical leader- none of your top 4 I think could handle losing thier best player??

 

Secondly West losing to East is nothing to be ashamed of- if you have ever been to one of those games you would understand! Throw the records out. I think West having won 15-16 games this year already and district 1 seed they have over achieved after losing a player of the year and other starters.

 

As far as the #5 team?? West is ranked 5 in the polls but I think the 12th have some teams playing well right now and some not playing well....Region is wide open.

Mercer-7( addition of Taylor makes them a legit regional contender)

As always, SSF, good work! I can't believe, though, that you didn't try to tackle the log-jam that is the middle of the region! I'll give my two cents. What I'll say, though, is after my first three, the next eight are almost interchangeable. This is a POWER RATING, which means it's how they are playing RIGHT NOW...feel free to complain!

From information from West Jessamine the game against East meant nothing as far as standings- 1 West 2- Mercer 3-East and 4-Burgin were already a done deal before the East - West game. I do not know the records I justed asked someone from there and they said this was a done deal.

A. It was a five game winning streak.

 

B. They scored 39 points at home against a team that allows 66 per game.

 

C. Maybe not falling apart, but definitely putting question marks by their name.

Good Point on West - Cant see thier coach letting a team not be ready or prepared though? we will see how things work out- I think all the top teams play each other in the final weeks- should give us an indication what is to come in districts and if there will be any upsets?

Looks like some good matchups still to be played - thanks for the research. I would say there will be some upsets in that couple of weeks but I still say we see these teams at regional tourney with a chance!

The district games vs Burgin at home this year counted double for all the teams. When Mercer lost to Burgin, it gave them 2 losses and Burgin got two wins. East barely beat Burgin by two or three points or Burgin would have been the # 2 seed. # 1 West Jess vs # 4 Burgin, # 2 Mercer with their stud back vs # 3 East Jess.
