LCC is pretty good- probably a solid 3 right now. Honestly good region but only one of those 3 can win it, after that Breathitt can beat one of them but not win it-- same goes for Buckhorn. I can see another LCC-PCC classic like last year in region

I think you are right losing Hammonds was a huge blow to the Colts- they should have tried to keep him more! Rehner ?? is hard to replace also, the transfer is good but not a replacement. Raider Rob and the boys get a huge win on the road- could be a sub par year for the Colts if they dont right the ship

Raider Rob is still celebrating that Hammonds is gone at West- he might have a chance now- dont know if West will play the same kind of tenacity on D with him gone

But West Jessamine will be missing a key part of the run to the final four- The Coaching Staff and 3 seniors that helped out this year- West will be in the mix but with out Hammonds I dont think they will get over the hump

Would agree- West could score last year but all three years Hammonds was there they played great defense and always has thier opponent scouted to a T- got to think this hurts the chances of a repeat- Raider Rob will be number one now

Kelley is official at West West is still in school as far as teachers reporting next week- Seems Hammonds is doing a good job by getting someone and sending his team to play even if he cant be there. Dont even think Letcher Central gets out of school til sometime next week. It is summer ball boys- dont mean a whole lot just good for the kids to play and get experience

Bracken County atletics is in shambles I agree. Leadership is bad. Guess they miss the old AD alot more than people remember!!

Lincoln has had suppier talent than anyone in the region in recent years. I this can attribute to them going to Rupp 2 times in a row- I think West has gotten more out of what they have talent wise. I think all three year other teams seem to be more talented than West but West seems to find ways to win

Last three years the West Jessamine and Lincoln County programs have been tops in 12th. Lincoln has won- out right last year and from what I understand a very questionable call year before. Looks like these two again are the tops of the region with some others contending again. I would love to see these two battle again in finals. I think both programs are ran by class coaches and both have fundamental basketball that the 12th region should be proud of- the always play tough schedules and both get the region quality wins. Fans always have opinions- Lincoln has been to Rupp last two years- no denying- they also had 3 1000 pt scorers- Props to both programs and lets hope this year the 12th gets a win at Rupp

How can 14th call it- Doesnt Jacksons brother assign those refs from 14th region? Wasnt it the 14th that made the bad call against West 2 years ago at Lincoln that decided the game? Why doenst the 12th use its own refs like we do in the 11th region and 10th region? How many other regions use refs they have never seen- this doenst seem to fair??:idunno:

Clinton couldnt win the 12th. Not even close - they cant win the 4th either. Nice all A team- but no region threat to make Rupp in either region.

Great analysis of the 12th region!! I cant really disagree with any of them. I think the West score could be alittle sckewed because they had East the night before and a bunch taking the ACT that morning and then playing a Saturday afternoon game- but take nothing away from SW- they just beat West fair and square. I think my 12th region would be 1. Lincoln Co 2. West 3. Garrard 4. SW 5. McCreary Central 6. East 7. Wayne Co 8. Danville 9. Rock 10. Boyle Co Now I think the top 4 are the hottest teams in the region as far as 09 goes. 2 weeks to go and then we start all over again. Right now I think the top 2 are the favorites with then next 4 capable of winning it all. I think the last two years Lincoln and West Jessamine have been the best two teams in the 12th I think it is coming down to those two again- but like I said Garrard and SW do have great senior leadership and coaches that can get it done- McCreary and East have the athletes to cause havoc on anyone and Wanye Co still have great young kids and Rodney Woods- not sure the rest of the field can win a big one in district and then also put three games together to get to Rupp

Made a call over there - got winners but nothing exact 1st game McCreary beat Woodford 19. 2nd game Henderson beat Boyle Co around 15 or better. He didnt know the final- it was 16 with 1 min to go. 3rd game- East girls beat Lville Eastern by about 8 4th game West Jessamine beat Gallatin Co by about 40. 5th game East Jessamine was down to Bryan Station bout 20 at the half. All they knew really, hope this helps sorry I couldnt be more exact.

Hammonds won the 12th region coaches award - voted on by 12th region coaches- Head Coaches- this was given to him at the 12th region banquet when all region and all academic players get thiers along with Referee of the Year. I dont think 6 mintues we off the clock is all I am saying. I can see Hammonds let a Referee have it if need be - but my comment was he is not a show nor does he usually do it unless there is usu a reason. Bottom line- McCreary won- congrats to them- they may have played poorly in your eyes SSF but I am sure West Defense has something to do with it- hammonds usually gets the best out of his players- they are lightly rated every year going into the season but always seem to show up in the end. I think both ball clubs have fine coaches and both have fine players. I hope Watts goes to UK or where ever he wants to go - he is a tremendous athlete and can play all sports. I just dont think making the thread about how a coach fights for what he thinks is right for his team is wrong. IF this had happened before or was a known fact them maybe. Controvery is just that- two sides seeing it differently. Good luck to McCreary and West- my ties are actually with niether but another 12th region school and 2 other 11th region schools. I just like to see- and hear- and READ about good games.

Lets clear somethings up- living in Lexington and knowing the West Jessamine Staff I know some of the things posted are incorrect. 1. Last year regional finals- I actually was there- Coach Hammonds had his team stay on the court- when it was time to cut nets he personally went over to Coach Jackson and congratualted him again( along with his wife) and asked if cared they went on to locker room he didnt want to seem disrespectful at all. Coach Jackson told him absolutely that is what he would do also so he could talk with his team. 2. I was not at the McCreary game. But here is the take that I am getting from more than one source. West Didnt hold the ball for 6 mintues- both teams played some good Defense and McCreary went to a zone that stalled the game out in 3rd quarter. 3. Coach ranting during game- having seen Hammonds in action he is pretty mild to most but will get upset with his team and refs if he thinks his kids are not being done right- from all aspects seems the end of this game is much controversial. It is sad that the coach is put in a bad light when his job is too take up for his kids and his character has never been questioned before. 4. Hammonds was 12th region coach of the year last year so I am guessing he is respected by coaches and players in the region. My take for what it is worth- A great High School basketball game. Each sides fans have thier take on the game. Both are passionate about thier school and both think they are better. Both teams have been major players and will continue to do so because they each have good players and coaches. If I am not mistaken I was told before West left McCreary Jones and Hammonds were in the back laughing and talking about the game. Before people print things about kids or coaches lets make sure we get the story straight. Great game- I hope they meet again- can only be good for the 12th region fans to see. If they do that means both are in region and both would again be successful. I also agree that East, West and Mercer have the toughtest District- Wayne McCreary and SW are 2nd - Lincoln will be there and yes Garrard, Rock and others have a chance to cause some noise. Lets be proud that we have good 12th region teams that compete so hard against each other and lets stay alittle more positive and not be so much what have you done for me lately!

Lots of excuses for the raiders who are suppose to be #1 in region- I think maybe Lincoln can stake claim right now. But both are fine ball clubs- but I agree- Raiders wouldnt want to see West in March!!

Got to agree that West is trying to find itself right now with a ton of inexperienced players but also agree that I would take West at the end of the year--- I think this will be alittle closer than people think right now- but McCreary should get the edge being at home and having a week of rest to prepare!

When is last time Bracken beat the Panthers? Seems they havent dominated the Augusta Teams for a while. Probably been -4 to 5 years since Bracken has enjoyed regular success against Augusta.
