gchs_uk9 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 After a big district win against Lincoln, Garrard County returns to action on Friday night against East Jessamine. The Jaguars are 13-5 and have been playing good basketball all season. Garrard is 14-3 and have played well all year, too. Should be a good ballgame. I'm reluctant to say much because East is one of the few 12th Region teams I haven't seen this season. I just don't know a great deal about them. I worry some about Garrard, though, coming off a huge win and with another big district matchup on Saturday with Boyle. Hopefully the focus will be entirely on East Jessamine. Historical Preview: *This marks the 7th meeting between the two schools *East Jessamine leads the all-time series 5-1 *This marks the 4th meeting in Lancaster *Garrard County won their only game in this season in Lancaster in 2001 *East Jessamine has won four straight in the series *Garrard County would tie their best start ever with a win, matching the 15-3 opening by the 1999-2000 team *Prior to the separation into East & West, Garrard County had played Jessamine County High forty times, trailing the all-time series 23-17. They last met in the winter of 1990.
Chosen_One Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Garrard by 12. Just too hard for someone to come into Lancaster and get a win from this team.

SouthernSportsFan Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I am afraid that Garrard County might be prime for a letdown. But, I think they will pull it out in the end. 65-62
Chosen_One Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 East is a very good team. They can push it and can really shoot it.
gchs_uk9 Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 I am afraid that Garrard County might be prime for a letdown. But, I think they will pull it out in the end. 65-62 That's my concern. Obviously it will be tough to play at the same level they did against Lincoln and the game on Saturday night with Boyle is much more important for district/seeding purposes. If Garrard wants to be listed among the big boys in the region, they can't take a night off. If East handles a lethargic Garrard team, then the 12th Region will consider Garrard a flash in the pan. I don't think Coach DeForest will let that happen. It will be a tough battle by two really good teams Friday night.
gchs_uk9 Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 Historical Preview: *Garrard County won their only game in this season in Lancaster in 2001 I meant to say series in the earlier post. Sorry!
OLDSCHOOL PATS Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Garrard Co. style of play tough to beat and they are at home to. I'll take the Lions 60-54.
SouthernSportsFan Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 gchs is a Garrard County record book. Are you close with the program and have this information at hand?
gchs_uk9 Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 gchs is a Garrard County record book. Are you close with the program and have this information at hand? Yes. And Yes. Also, I've had some information handed to me from a couple sources over the years that has helped tremendously.
Chosen_One Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 I have heard that the band will be attending this game, so look for it to be VERY rowdy tomorrow night in Lancaster!
ebayer Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 East has a nice team this year. If everyone is healthy they may best Garrard. If their starting center is still injured Garrard should win.
Southern Gentleman Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 East Starting center will not be playing. I still think East goes to Lancaster and wins by 5. 62-57.
