gold sunrise Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 According to Ch 27 news Robert Hammond will be leaving West Jessamine to be the new coach at Letcher Central. He wanted to go into administration and West Jessamine was not willing or unable to fill this wish.
gchs_uk9 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Letcher County Central is getting a GREAT coach. Hammonds had done a remarkable job at West Jessamine and the next coach will have large shoes to fill.

All In Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Letcher County Central is getting a GREAT coach. Hammonds had done a remarkable job at West Jessamine and the next coach will have large shoes to fill. What happened to LCC's Coach? Where did he go,what did he do wrong?
gchs_uk9 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 What happened to LCC's Coach? Where did he go,what did he do wrong? I have no idea. I know their program is only three or four years old and they've gotten better every year. This past season saw Letcher County Central go 22-8 with a regional semifinal loss to Hazard. I'm guessing he's moving on to something else.

I also thought and still think they are an up and coming team.
PurplePride92 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 How badly will this hurt West Jessamine's chances to repeat as 12th region champs? Will Derek Springate finally get a head coaching job? Whoever takes over will love Jarrod Polson.
Sandman Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I don't know all the in's and out's of the situation, but with West being in the 12th region, this appears to be a very attractive job. Am I correct?

Am I correct? True, but I am hearing that it's a very good chance that one of the assistants will get the job.

Whoever takes over will love Jarrod Polson. Agree 100%! Jarrod plays HARD and is a team player! Very intelligent player on and off the court, in the Governors Scholar Program with I think a 4.1 gpa? GREAT young man off the court as well!
gchs_uk9 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 True, but I am hearing that it's a very good chance that one of the assistants will get the job. I would imagine West's lead assistant Derek Springate would be first in line to get the job.
PurplePride92 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I would imagine West's lead assistant Derek Springate would be first in line to get the job. He's a family friend of ours and I know he really wanted the Boyle County job and was upset when he didn't get it. I hope he can land the West Jessamine job.

I hope he can land the West Jessamine job. Truthfully, he might be better off getting his first head coaching job at West Jessamine rather than at Boyle County, which was his alma mater. Hopefully Derek will be the new coach in Nicholasville next season.

I know he has ties to the Boyle athletic administration, but I am like you, I think he'll be better off in West Jessamine should he land that job.
roosterhead Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 What happened to LCC's Coach? Where did he go,what did he do wrong? It was not his choice. Our Super decided his services were no longer needed. He is looking at other openings at this time.
