  1. as far as the 10th yes Reitz should be in the top 3. Yes you are right on regional titles, maybe even one more at Harrison County- but also in some other regional finals and was assistant when Bourbon Co was state runner up. Got to have some talent to get to the promise land!
  2. Bottom line is Kentucky has the best High School Coaches in America! I think there are 276 Varisty programs in KY( give or take a few) and I think the majority are well coached, unlike other states. We may not have the best athletes in America but we do have great teams. Just look at KY teams vs out of state teams at Christmas. Most of the out of state teams have already played 10-12 games and they get beat, look at Scott Co - Huntington...look at our single A schools- top to bottom KY has great coaches.
  3. Congrats to Lincoln Co on a great year, bet West Jessamine feels sick after the no call last night at the closing seconds!!!!
  4. Think Somersets coach is a great coach. Lets remember coaches cant shoot it for them. I still think Somerset is dancing in the regional tourney. I think Lincoln and W Jess both have dealt with injuries this year and starters out that is why they are the favorites, could prove good for them to have been able to go deep into thier benches. Have to agree lots of basketball to be played, fun to guess but still alot goes into winning it, and luck is def one of the ingredients!!!!
  5. Mustang I could be wrong but I think most are thinking of the KABC coach of the year voted on by the coaches of the schools in 10th. You are correct in saying the coach of the year is predetermined at the 10th region banquet but could be a different person walking out onThursday or Friday when they bring out players and coaches of the year from each region. I have to agree with you on the coaches in the 10th , very deep as is the tradition!
  6. Forgot most dangerous teams Mercer and Pulaski Co- Both have lots of talent, great season for the maroons and mercer has come on of late, wouldnt be surprised to see both make tourney runs. Best Surprises Wayne County and Garrard County. Both teams have played solid through out year and have gotten better and better and will be tought outs in the tourney! 12th region looks very balanced and looks like the 12th has been well represented this year with players and coaches. Good luck to all the teams next week.
  7. 1. Lived up to expectations. Lincoln has been at the top most all the year and has played good competetion. 2. Best over achieving team- West Jess- Lost a ton of talent last couple of years and were suppose to be down this year and coming years, looks like the kids are playing hard for the new coach and finding ways to win. 3. Biggest underachiever-Could be a couple, go with Somerset although I think they still can win the region with the right draw 4. Best Teams that are around 500- Boyle and East- either can beat anyone on any night but seem to take nights off here or there. 5. About where they should be- McCreary and Southwestern- both have had solid years, some blimishes in the road but very good teams and well coached.
  8. Didnt Hammonds leave several starters at Bracken coming back this year? I would imagine he would have done fine and maybe even better down the stretch but both seem to be good coaches. As far as West having alot back? 1 starter back and no other experience , only preseason ranking of 10. I think he has gotten alot out of West this year and far exceeded what they were suppose to do, but he seems to get the most out of his players where ever he is. I agree with many of the posts, good coaches in 12th, many have been there. Good go to a number of coaches. Several teams have done well this year. I would think : Jackson, Bottoms, Hammonds, Jones and Woods all deserve consideration and possibly even Bolin. Good balance this year and good coaching, but of course this is Kentucky and we do have the best coaches in America and far too often we forget that! Congrats to all the teams on solid seasons.
  9. Agreed the 12th goes thru Lincoln, West and Boyle for sure. Good Teams with good coaches who can win and proven it all year.
  10. Jay Fite seems to have done a good job but he was left 3 starters if not 4 from the Hammonds era which was a pretty good one! Not to mention losing 4 or 5 games lately! I cant believe Brad Carr isnt on here, he has done wonders after losing several starters! I agree also that Humpreys has done a good job this year being in top 20 most all year and playing top competition all year. Coach of the year Carr, Code or Humprey those have done the best coaching jobs this year hands down.
  11. I agree Professor and no way does the last game between schools decide who gets top seed.
  12. Tournament games do not count, only the home and away games, therefore if teams tie then it goes to head to head in most all cases. This is done at District meetings in case of a tie, the coaches vote on it. More times than not it is head to head as first tie breaker then you flip a coin after that. Only the 6 games count toward district seeds. Of course I could be wrong but I have been told this before by many coaches in several regions.
  13. 1. Lincoln- good W over Somerset, top team for now 2. West Jessamine- Solid Schedule-playing much better than anyone expected this year. 3. Mercer County- 9 wins so far very impressive since Football came out late 4. Boyle County- Tough Schedule, good Coaching will be there in the end. 5. McCreary Central- 10 wins so far and many more to come 6. Pulaski County- Seems to be playing well inside and out 7. East- capable of beating anyone when they play well 8. Wayne County- Solid fundamental play so far, nice team 9. Southwestern- Up and dowm so far but can shoot well on any given night 10. Somerset- Good team with size and depth Good games already in the 12th with many more to come down the next couple of weeks.
  14. Most dont come out until first week of Jan. They dont put anything out til after all the Christmas Tourneys are done.
  15. Mason County is not only the best in the district but probably the region with good matchup with GRC! Mason will always , and I mean always be best in this district. Does A-town even play Mason County, I know the other two in the past have but where is Atown, playing KSD? As far as district all lost big time players Atown- Gallagher- will be hard to replace- Didnt Bracken Handle them in the summer easily??? St Pat- Lost Estill- hard to lose your Point and be good right off!!! Bracken Co- 3 seniors? and the most important one of them all- thier COACH! Great race for 2nd and the draw will decide who gets to the region much like it did last year. Good luck to all, but no one beats Mason as they draw into the region semis every year practically going in as a winner.
  16. Just curious why eveyone even the CATS Pause thinks West Jessamine will be so far down. I looked them up last year and they were 5-11 at one point, got thier act together and ended up 17-14. It seems ranked 9th and 3rd in district they would be the sleeping giant in the region?? I understand inexperience and now a new coach but I would think they still will be a force to be reckoned with in the end?? I could be wrong what do people think?? Are they that far down?? MCCreary is a force as far as the thread. So many good games in the region this year. It really seems this could be a really good year for the 12th competing with other teams out of region this year. 12th seems to be sronger than normally. Lincoln and Boyle seem to have strong schedules then with East, McCreary, a new improved Pulaski , Wayne and a host of others seems like the 12th could have a great year???
  17. Zack Fain is from West Jessamine and Sanders is from East Jessamine.
  18. Who ever is the coach the Ridge will produce this year
  19. Simms will do fine. Good coach, learned alot but I am sure has alot of his own ideas as most assistants do. I cant foresee him doing anything but working hard, scouting and making his program top notch and keeping the Wilcat pride going. He may not have the talent as in years past but I am sure he has a huge desire to win and that will keep his players focused. Give him time and he will keep a strong program a contender.
  20. 1. Lincoln 2. Boyle 3. East 4. McCreary 5. Mercer 6. West 7. Southwestern 8. Somerset 9. Pulaski 10. Wayne Pre season top 10. Of course lots of things to consider. New Coaches, schedules, players transfering, health of returners etc. Things will change but as you can see on any given night in this region any one can beat anyone :thumb:
  21. Lincoln Boyle East Mercer McCreary West Southwestern Somerset Wayne Pulaski
  22. Think Hammonds proved you can win at Bracken while doing it in a much tougher 38th district, now they are in 39th they should always be the 2nd best team year in and year out. Bracken has alot of experience back and they should have a great season. But time will tell if Fite stays and builds a program or goes back to Lewis Co when it opens? Of course some people wouldnt understand that.
  23. Why would have Bracken wanted to keep a person from making more money? It would have looked bad on the school and administration. A coach wanting to move and take a better postition is business, and seem these coaches moved for business and family reasons. Doesnt look like you really know much about coaching anymore cause coaching has changed as has the kids. Seems to me there are alot of good programs out there that have had a few coaching changes- and it looks like Bracken benefited alot from Hammonds being at Bracken, not only in gaining respect but now a bonified program again. As for Biggs , seems Ashland was a great move, and Flynn had built a great program at Ashland. Seems more schools are benifiting from the good coaches cause they all have left programs in great shape that they built so the next coaches and players could benifit.
