How do you think Chad Simms will do as the Head Coach of Pendleton County? Will he have a winning record?

He has some big shoes to fill, but with the program's success in recent years, the talent level should carry him through this next year. After that, only time will tell if he's up to the task.

Time will tell and also what kind of interest he shows in the youth basketball program in PC. Recent coaches have displayed no interest at all in developing the youth, other than a "make some money" camp through the summer. I believe most will agree that the recent success of PC's program wasn't the result of the coaching staff of the county working with those individuals as the came up through the ranks, it was the parents who took the time and efforts to develop the players from about 3rd grade on in a program "outside" of the county. Don't misinterpret this the coaches didn't play a major role with the players they had, just keep in mind they didn't instantly become a major force when they all became Juniors and Seniors.

 

I'm glad the Football Boosters of PC are working the program from the ground up. IMO, the way it should be done with all programs.

I saw Pendleton JV 3-4 times last year and just feel that they are going to struggle on the varsity level. Haven't seen their schedule but if the new coach gets them to .500 this year he did a heck of a job.

My guess is that Pendleton will go something like 17-13. The cupboard isn't bare, but it's not stocked like the past couple of years by a long shot.

Does East Ridge have a coach yet.

Simms will do fine. Good coach, learned alot but I am sure has alot of his own ideas as most assistants do. I cant foresee him doing anything but working hard, scouting and making his program top notch and keeping the Wilcat pride going. He may not have the talent as in years past but I am sure he has a huge desire to win and that will keep his players focused. Give him time and he will keep a strong program a contender.

It cracks me up the way people talk about coaches and their programs. Its like horse racing. You give a good jockey a bad horse, and he loses. You give a bad jockey a good horse, and he still finishes ok, but not at the top. Ahh, but you give a good jockey and good horse, and he wins. Thats about like high school basketball coaches. Unless they recruit, that is. Then they have chosen their poison. But no one in Kentucky recruits, right????????

Same old song and dance. Coach only wins unless he has great talent, and it is the coach's fault when they lose (not that the talent has gone down). As for Jump man 89 Biggs's record at Pendleton speaks for itself. To say they had no interest in dealing with the younger kids is just off base. Also the cupboard is not bare there. Taht program is in very good shape and will be for a while because of the decisions Biggs and Simms and the other assistant's made. Comparing the football program there to their basketball program is a joke.
