I had Wayne 58-50 in the thread that got closed for some strange reason. It's hard to predict how many free throws a team will get and hit late in the game!

This should not come as any suprise. In the Shawn Thacker era at Somerset his teams have traditionally been bad after their elimination from the All A Classic. Perhaps too much emphasis is put on that tourney. I think the majority of Somerset fans would prefer to make a trip to Rupp than to win the All A Championship. Take a look at these numbers and see what you think.

More importantly only 3 12th Region appearances with a record of 0-3. Even the year that SHS went 5-2 post All A they were upset in the first round of the district. Something has to give. Nice win for Wayne County who should move into 3rd place in everyone's 12 Region Rankings--Somerset will be fortunate to win more than 1 game this season (Monticello and that one is on the road)--Rockcastle will probably be favored at home in the district.

Coach Thacker made an emphasis this year of not mentioning the All A untill came around.. Not a word was said about it, till the week before.. I will say they arent exactly playing the best basketball right now, but they do have the toughest schedule in the region for the rest of the regular season..

Tough loss for the Jumpers but Wayne was at home and has been one of the hotter teams in the 12th. What was the story in this game? Did Somerset have another poor shooting night or just a good night by the Cardinals? I haven't really heard any specifics.

I think it was a good post. He basically posted what everyone in the 12th Region thinks and knows. Somerset annually gets high billing in the region, they beat up on a couple weaklings to make the All "A," then they come back and play a tough schedule and fade. I'm not saying Somerset shouldn't emphasize the All "A" because realistically they have a much better chance of getting to/winning it than the overall state tournament. They just have to figure out a way not to fade down the stretch.

Somerset is in the middle of a tough stretch of games right now.

Somerset did not play bad, Wayne is just playing well right now. I watched the whole game and never thought that Wayne was be challenged, not taking anything away from Somerset they have a nice team. I think Somerset should get turned around for District play.

Looking at Somersets schedule Pre all "A" and after all "A" I think its the schedule that has to do with their so called all "A" let down this year.

 

Somerset is a tough team to play at at home. Plain and Simple. In fact the only team that has beaten them this year was a very very good Dunbar team in their first game of the year.

 

Somersets record on the road outside of the all A has not been all that impressive before or after the All "A".

Good win for the Cardinals.

I would like to add that I admire Wayne County high school for having prayer before their games and also their display of the extra large American flag by the national guard students during the national anthem. It seems most school systems are afraid to show their support for what this country was founded upon.
