Spin, spin, spin... By the way, where does the starting QB from Somerset's '07 football team live? Take him off the team & SHS wins 4 games MAX! Where do more than 1 of your basketball players live? I'll give you a hint... NOT in the city! Let's not even get into the middle school kids who make up the better part of the basketball, baseball, & football teams. We can even talk about the girls team with certain starters living in the county. So, YES Pulaski County helps Somerset a lot more than some Somerset fans are willing to admit. Do away with the tuition list & Somerset would struggle to compete with the all A schools, let alone the rest of the region.

One thing is evident , in watching these kids work in the off-season, there will be no resting on the accomplishments of last year! The Maroons are working harder than ever & have more kids out than ever before. It's amazing how much interest has built up from a great '07 season. With only 3 home games in '07(plus 1 playoff game), it's going to be nice to be at home for a while in '08. Pulaski has 6 regular season home games on the schedule, w/ 2 road games within the county, Rock in the Ray Correll Bowl @ Somerset, & at Southwestern. The Maroons travel to Wayne Co. & Mercer Co. as the only true "road" games on the schedule. With the new stadium nearing completion it is lining up to be a special year for PC.

Isn't it funny how one team can do that to another. I agree that, on paper, Somerset is better than PC this year, but PC just matches up w/ Somerset very well. It goes the same way w/ Southwestern, a team that only won 4 games in the regular season, but 2 were against Pulaski. The Warriors just matched up w/ PC very well. I truly think there will be an upset in the tourney w/ Wayne and/or Lincoln getting knocked off. It's going to be a fun one to watch!

As for Pulaski helping to get those students into Somerset, they only allow 250 kids in grades K-12 to pay tuition to attend Somerset. That is less than 20 per grade--how many of those play sports? That is a great question. Just how many athletes at Somerset live in the county & pay tuition? Better yet, take all those athletes from the sports programs & see how Somerset competes w/ the other schools in the region. I will not name any kid @ SHS who does pay tuition, but take a look @ a football or basketball roster & look at the number of kids who live in the county or use a relatives address in the city. People can spin it any way they want but facts are facts, Somerset NEEDS Pulaski more than Pulaski needs Somerset. The Jumpers have a great basketball team. It just gets old hearing it's a small school, etc... when there is no class system in high school basketball in KY.

Pulaski just flat out-played SHS. It was a great game for the Maroons.Once again, the Sr's for PC really stepped up & showed they want to continue to play great basketball. As Somerset goes, I would not want to be the winner of the district that has to play them in the 1st round of the region. This team has the talent to win the 12th, if they can get it all together. Coach Thacker is an outstanding coach & has built that program into a contender every year. I hope he is there as long as he wants to be. Now, with all that said about coach Thacker, I want to address the "we are a small school, yada,yada..." Yes you are a small school, that gets plenty of help from the county to get kids in your school so you can have these competitive teams. This is no slam on your school, it just seems really convenient when Somerset loses to use that excuse. In basketball, there is no class system at this time so everyone is in the same class, no matter what size the school is. So please, do not dishonor your school & great coach by trying to use that excuse. Somerset is way to good of a program to have that as an excuse.

The entire PC team played their hearts out tonight. You could see the Sr's did not want this to be their last game in a Maroon uniform. It should be another classic when PC & Somerset hook up Friday. The best part is, no matter who wins or loses, both are in the 12 Region tournament. Good luck to both.

Yes, Whitis played. Not only did he play, he had 15pts for PC & was named the National Guard Player of the Game. That was an amazing effort for a kid who wasn't even expected to play due to an ankle injury. Pulaski did an outstanding job on defense & on the boards tonight. The Maroons avenge 2 losses this season to Casey.

With SW's upset of McCreary, that puts all 3 local boys teams in the 12 region tournament(PC, SHS, SW). Congrats & good luck to all of our local teams.

Southwestern over McCreary Central tonight in the 48th district, 56-55!!! SW 4-21 coming in, McCreary was 24-4 & the favorite to come out of the 12th Region. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

No misprint , it actually happened. Bob & Duane cannot have voices left after the 2 games they had to do on the radio tonight. It was an exciting final 3 minutes with each team hitting big shot after big shot. SW is a team that doesn't have an outstanding w-l record, but has been getting better & better each game out. Coach Shulz ALWAYS has his team ready for post-season play.

Pulaski was down 11-4 in the 1st qtr then went on a 21-5 run in the 2nd to take control. Casey made a run in the 3rd but PC was able to weather the storm & pull away thru the 4th. Great job guys,& good luck Friday night in the finals. I have a feeling there will be just a few more people in the gym Friday when the Maroons take on Somerset.

Final was 56-55. SW hit a layup after a steal at the buzzer. Great job by the Warriors beating Central on it's own floor. This could be the biggest upset in the state so far. Congrats to those kids from SW.

Pulaski will start as soon as boys & girls bball ends. They will finish spring w/ a Maroon/ White game. The PC faithful are beginning to get excited about the upcoming season.

Hey, any word on how bad Shawn Whitis' ankle is. It looked pretty nasty when he went to the floor last night. That could be a huge blow to PC's chances of getting into the region if he can't go. I hope everything is fine & he'll get to play.

Alex Abner will be a another weapon added to the Maroons group of great skill players. He had a lot of big hits and caused several turnovers as well as scoring both running and receiving. PC is looking for him to contribute big time this year.

Pulaski has to work harder than they ever have, & don't get lazy. There is a ton of talent & speed returning to this team, they just have to stay hungry & work hard in the off-season. Special things are in store for this team.

I have heard that he has had trouble getting experienced coaches to help him. I think he has some that drive in from out of county - that is difficult on the players and coaches alike- who are dedicated but he some with little or no experience in football in general. Let me say they are all didicated to getting that program off the ground but it has to stressful on a HC. There are a lot of things needing done to have a successful program and it can't fall on one or two guys. Good luck with the upcoming year with that new program.

They start with Rock in the Correll bowl and then PLay Mercer Co is week two. the rest of their schedule should copy last years with Russell, West Jesimine and Knox Central.

I know this is a stretch, but what about Jay Cobb at Somerset. He took then turned down the Henderson job to stay at Somerset for his son's Sr year. Now he has graduated. Cobb has coaching roots in Eastern KY ( not that Mad. South. is that much more east than Somerset). He has had success at Somerset. What do you guys think?

Those guys were good, but let's not forget Eric Atwell, played from 85-88 and was PC 1st all state player. Rush for over a 1,000 yards his Jr and Sr years playing for a team that had been around for only 4 -5 years in a district of Tates Creek, Henry Clay, Bryan Station, Lafayette, Laurel Co, Clark Co, and Madison Cent. Those were tough years! A lot of "Homecoming Games", if you know what I mean! Eric was a great player! Also Somerset had Eric "EJ" Jones at that time. Another Great Somerset RB!. Was on their State Runner-up team in 88.

As a PC Maroon fan, I think that French is one of the best coaches in the state, so I say, Let him go to Boyle!!! :thumb::thumb::banana::D:D
