I left with about a minute to go and I am not 100% sure on the exact final score but Pulaski did win by 21 points according to the Radio.

 

It was a 9 point game with 2 minutes to go and PC pulled away at the end.

You never know with the fans these days huh? Someone told me that they heard that someone said it was so stupid that Southwestern was in the region. they said this person said that it should be in the rules that a 5-24 team shouldn't even be in the region. How Stupid can you be?:irked:

yes but its probably the same people that rumbles about the baseball coaches, the football coaches, the middle school coaches, the principals, the teachers, and the greens keeper at their golf club.

 

Good Luck to Somerset in the regions unless you play SW in which case I hope you shoot it like you did last night.

I'm sure there will be but hopefully the administration has better sense than to listen.

 

Congrats to Pulaski. Last night they simply outhustled and yes, outcoached the Jumpers. It seemed like the Maroons got every loose ball and were just a step quicker than the Jumpers all night. Somerset seemed to lay down and quit with about 6:00 to go in the game--at that point I think Somerset was down by 7 and I told Somerset A.D. Bob Tucker that if the Jumpers didn't score on the next trip that they would lose by 18. Very poor effort all around by Somerset, they were just awful. At one point they missed 5 straight free throws, at another they threw the ball straight to Whitis 3 out of 4 trips. Somerset's players also missed about 6 layups--which they'll continue to miss as long as they shoot that scoop shot/finger roll abomination that they keep putting up there. Pulaski was more physical and Somerset kept leaving those shots short at the least little hint of contact. Coach Thacker needs to get the blocking dummies out before the Region and have the players beat on each other while shooting layups so they'll take it up strong--if they play that soft they'll be one and done. Also it looks like if PC is content to surround Bourne with 2-3 people that it would work better to invert the offense and pull him out to the high post. I think PC's guards would have a hard time handling Price, Wallen and Coomer down on the block one on one.. Of course if the rest of the team would have been cutting and moving last night when Bourne was getting double teamed instead of standing around the 3 point line they might have gotten some more easy baskets. The good news is for Somerset is that didn't end their season. The bad news is they better get tough in a hurry because they sure made things harder on themselves. Shake it off and get tough guys.

Guys everyone knows that win tourny time rolls around you better be ready and if not there is those shoulda,coulda, and woulda conversations. Good luck to Southwestern in the districts finalstonight. and whatch out for the Maroons the region tourney is on there home court.

Coach Thacker is a good coach but for some reason some of the kids he depends on do not play with any toughness, way too soft!! I hope his job is not in jeopardy, he is a good coach and a good man!

I agree, some of them would have been well served to have been out on the gridiron the last 4 years. They don't like to play a physical game.

Thacker put Somerset back on map in the 12th region.

I never bashed the coach. I'm just stating what I'm hearing. Somerset has underachieved nearly every year, and especially after the All A.

 

Getting Somerset to Richmond?

 

Monticello, Burgin, and Danville isn't the toughest competition. I never said he wasn't a good coach.

Coach Thacker, is a first class guy. Hope he continues to coach, at his discretion and leads Somerset, for years.
