Are there any rumblings about Thacker at Somerset?

I know how to run one and organize it. I was curious to how the poster who said they cleard 2,000-2,500 organized theirs. I've been part of many and we clear much, much more than that.

How are those scrambles organized? Golf scrambles should bring in more. Is there one hole sponsor or many? How much to sponsor a hole?

You have that statement backwards my friend. Basketball is the game they play in the winter because it's too cold for baseball.

Been hearing that Russell County's best player may be moved up to F/JV next year as well. They were a Final 4 team at the KBA State. If he's moved up, that really hurts their team.

Where is Sharp Middle School? Pendleton County? Pendleton was beat the first round of the 7th grade tourney.

3 hour trip? What road did they take? No way should it be that long.

Where did Richardson and Diaw move from? A couple very nice additions.

I knew Portwood was. I didn't know Diaw was a 6th grader. That kid and Humphrey need to find their way to SCMS. That team would be scary. Those 2, Richardson, Portwood and Downey (#3?) would be hard to stop. I didn't see Georgetown play. Do they have anyone that stands out or could possibly start at SC if Diaw and Humphrey were there?

I'm definitely not trying to take any credit away from Scott. I was very impressed with how hard #34 played. Especially rebounding. When #35 and #24 from Royal Springs are added to that team, they will be very good! Don't know if anyone around could handle them then. I really didn't intend for this part of the thread to be about officiating in SC games. I really only meant that I thought there were alot of over the back in the games I watched. Not necessarily SC games but all! I thought the officiating was overall not the greatest, but I didn't have a problem with any particular official there other than the woman who called the RC/SC game and the SC/Christian Co game. I thought she was a very poor referee. That being said, I based my whole disappointment in officiating on the lack of OTB in all games, the quick trigger in calling technicals, and it may just be the way basketball is played now, but there were alot of walks that weren't called. Maybe I'm just a purist.

If you read my post, it said that over the back wasn't called the entire weekend. I didn't single SC out. I probably watched as many games as anyone this weekend and I just made the point that over the back wasn't called at all. That comment was directed toward a disappointment I had in officiating overall, not only in RC games. I only pointed out that SC was very active on the offensive glass. I only brought up that SC played full court and more man than RC did and the foul differntial was so much higher. You are making this a bigger deal than it is. If you have continuously read my posts, then you would see where I have give nothing but credit to SC and their team. I know about SC's defense in the games I watched. I watched 4 of their games. I'm not an expert on what they do, just what I witnessed this weekend.

SC pressed RC the majority of the first quarter and came out pressing in every game i watched them play. They played man to man pretty much the entire 4th while RC stayed in a zone. The foul differential was quite staggering in all their games. Listen, I'm not making excuses, Scott was the better team and deserved it. I watched them play their first game and I picked them to win. I was impressed with their kids. They played extremely hard and shot the lights out. My only gripe with officiating is they didn't call over the back the entire weekend from the majority of games I watched. And SC was very active on the offensive glass! But again, Congrats SC.

No doubt Scott was the better team but they clearly didn't need the 20+ differential in every game. I'm not saying there was a conspiracy, Scott deserved the title. They have a very good team and clearly didn't need the help. The female called the Russell game and Christian game and she has no business at all being on the court for any big games. By far the worse official up there. The poster said that all the representatives of each team stated that the officiating shouldn't have mattered. A play here or there. But can you justify the foul differential in favor of Scott? A team that presses and is aggressive toward rebounding? You can't use the argument of teams being down either because there is still too large of a difference. The fould differential was greater than you posted for the RC game. And 8 fouls came in the 4th and OT and most of those were OT. They didn't fould a great deal in the 4th in their comeback. RC had 29 fouls to Scott's 9 or 10. Take those 8 from the total and the fouls were 21-6 going into the 4th quarter. But let me clearly state that officiating didn't defeat RC, a better Scott County team did. They deserved the win and earned it. Congrats Cards. I do think they deseved the title. A very good basketball team.

Congrats to Scott County. Russell County just couldn't pull off the upset in the semi's but I'm proud of the kids. They played their butts off to get there.
