Spirit cards work well. For those that don't know about them, they are discount cards good for one year at several local restaurants, bowling alleys, etc. The front of them lists the organization that is selling them, and the back lists the discounts that the buyer is entitled to.

Those do sell well.

I know Greenup had a few nights last year like alumni night, teacher night, and veterans night. It seemed that most of the big crowds where on those nights.

You need a gaming license though, right?

Golf Scrambles..........cleared about $2000-2500 on each scramble in the past, its a one day event.

Thats a good idea, my college had one every year it seemed to do well. We also had a home run derby (where both the players and fans played), and a bucket throw from center field. We charged like $5 for it and then if you won you split the pot, usually made us an easy $30-$50.

How are those scrambles organized? Golf scrambles should bring in more. Is there one hole sponsor or many? How much to sponsor a hole?

Variations, Captain's Choice, Scramble or Best Ball.

Sell sponsor holes, for each and range from $100 to $250. Look for a corporate sponsor, to help offset any prize money or course courts.

Team Options - bring your own or have players assigned, A-D and then draw. Entry fee $35 to $50 per person.

I've done several, with variations of above.

I know how to run one and organize it. I was curious to how the poster who said they cleard 2,000-2,500 organized theirs. I've been part of many and we clear much, much more than that.

We have hole sponsors, that is where the money is.............Usually try to make enough money off of entry fees and mulligans to pay for prizes, lunch, and the Golf Course.

Usually $100 a hole for sponsors......depending on how much a buisness wants to donate depends on how big their sign is on that hole. If the boosters hustle a lot, you can start with $1800 right off the bat.

Small school, smaller community, limited pool of business sponsors!!!:p

Golf Scrambles or outtings are great when plan in advance and you have help. I still feel the best is a Bowl-A-Thon where everyone on the team from the manager, score keeper and coaches get envolved. First go to a local bowling establishment and let them know what you are doing they usually get a good deal on the lanes and shoe's. Then each person goes out and get sponsor's: they can pay by the pin, per game or for the three game totals.

I have raised as much as $5,000.00 with only 25 to 30 people. This way it gets the whole group participating and have each person collect a specified dollar amount. Everyone will have fun in the process and everyone will be together working for the same goal. Good Luck in whatever you do! JD

I have played in scrambles for small schools and they seem to do well......I know Lee Basketball &Baseball always does well and Owsley has some for the basketball team too........Its all about getting the boosters to find sponsors
