Middle School Basketball

Featured Replies

I know its still football season but starting to get the itch and Oct 15th is right around the corner. What teams around the state are looking strong this season?

Unofficial word from Highlands Middle School is that former Highlands guard Mike Vories class of 1979 who helped the Birds earn a trip to Rupp Arena has accepted teh 8th grade coaching position. Outstanding news as Mike is a true teacher of the game and not just at the guard position.

Highlands 7th grade should be loaded with 6 returning players who were 6th graders on the roster last season along with 2 or 3 other potential players who have played AAU ball consistently over the past few years.

You guys must be entrenched with football. LOL

Can't wait for basketball season to start. Down here in the southern part of Kentucky, looks like Whitley Co., will give South Laurel and Meece, 7th grade a run for their money.

Hall Elementary (Harlan Co.) will have a good 7/8 grade team this season. Rosspoint will have a good team as well.

I think both teams will be participating in the 13th Region 8th grade tournament at Whitley County later in the season.

I have to agree with you. Meece, S. Laurel, and Whitley Co. are the teams to beat this year in the south. Any new players move in or transfer? Meece should have the same team.

I think Georgetown Middle will have a solid team 6th-8th.

The KBA has posted the dates for the middle school state tournaments. This year they have added the 6th grade. This is a great tournament for middle school teams. Meece Middle has already registered (6th, 7th, and 8th).

6th grade Jan. 25-27

7th grade Feb. 8-10

8th grade Feb. 15-17

South Laurel, has pretty much the same team as last year.

When does Meece, South Laurel, Whitley Co. start there season and who do they play?

I am glad to see there will be a 6th grade state tournament this year.

Wayne Co. should have a decent 6th grade team this year although Somerset 6th (Meece)will be the team to beat in the south.

Southern Middle (Southwestern) 8th should be the best team in southern KY.

Does any school have a schedule yet? If so, when are the dates of good games.

Meece should have a solid 6th grade team this year. Other teams that will give you a good game are probably Corbin 6th, Clinton Co. 6th and Wayne Co. 6th.

Southern 8th grade will be the team to beat.
