Madison Middle should have a decent 7th grade team this year.

You guys must be entrenched with football. LOL

qryche, you started this thread and we haven't heard from you since. Tell us about some of the Northern Kentucky teams.

Augusta will have a strong 8th Grade team and 7th grade will be ok, will play a few 6th graders.

Fleming County should have a good 8th grade team also

This is just a request but could you guys put the school they feed into after the middle schools name?

Does Fleming Co Middle School have a 6th grade or are they 7th and 8th only?
He did coach Science Hill last year. Pulaski has made changes this year to keep up with Somerset and Southwestern. They asked Jeff Cothron to head the feeder program and moved Shannon to coach the middle school. They originally asked Cothron to coach JV, but he wanted to take the feeder program and get it to the next level.

What feeder program? Keep up with Somerset....didn't Pulaski win the district the last two years? They appear to have "kept up with them pretty well".

He's talking about developing AAU and summer league type teams. Pulaski did win the district the last two seasons but from 9th Grade on down to 4th or 5th Southwestern and Somerset have very strong teams that play together most of the year.

Let me clarify myself. Pulaski Co. has always been known as the basketball school in the county. They have a great tradition and a state championship team. Over the past 5 years Somerset has developed a very good feeder program that started with the 8th grade class and spans down to the 5th grade. The Pulaski kids are far behind in the 8th grade thru the 5th grade. The coaching staff at Pulaski realized this and has made some changes to "keep up with Somerset."

Well, I am limited on what knowledge I have of teams in NKY. I am guessing the stronger teams will be the following.

Woodland and Summit Middle- Simon Kenton Feeder

Ockerman- Boone Co feeder

Highlands will be good but we are still waiting for a couple kids to grow. They will be very deep with 8-10 kids with extensive AAU experience and a new transfer who they say is 6'1. Several kids with 7th grade game experience (played as 6th graders) and guard position will be their strength. Tryouts are this week and there are several kids who can play in this grade and the competition will be fierce. There will be some unhappy kids unfortunatly walking out on the last day of tryouts. They technically could put 2 teams together with this year's 7th grade class.

Highlands 8th graders will struggle but they have an excellent first year coach in Mike Vories. They dont have much size and struggle at point guard which is not a good recipe. They have 3 kids who can play well but are more 2-3 spot players in Pat Towles, Charlie Reekers and Grant Duesing. They apparently have a transfer as well who is the 7th grader above's brother. He goes about 6'2 195 and will be a major plus to this group. I hear he is very athletic.

Campbell Co- 7th grade team will have McGovney who is an excellent player and played for Kings AAU Team.

Pendleton co- 7th graders are good and have Mason Monroe (G-town thunder) as their go to guy. That is if they dont move him up to play Frosh/JV. He is that good. 8th grade PC will have Corey Gregg but he is another kid that could be playing at the Frosh/JV level right now.

Several Catholic schools will field decent teams. St. Mary's 7th grade will have a couple nice players in Ben Uebel and Justin Saunders. St. Catherine will have Devoto who can score in bunches and shoots well.

It should be a fun season up here.

I will keep you all posted down south as the season goes along on who the standouts are going to be. Keep us posted on those Somerset AAU kids. I am guessing they go to Meece or Southern. Where does Tyler Gover play?

Corey's family moved to Ashland and he and his brother attend Rose Hill. He will join a team that has won the middle school state championship for 2 years. The 6th,7th, and 8th grades at Rose Hill should be very good.

Wow that is a big hit to the PC boys. I am sure there are some disappointment down in Falmouth.

However, I'm sure moving had nothing to do with him playing for a team that has won the state Middle school tournament the past 2 yrs. Nor did it hurt that they will be highly ranked at the varsity level the next few years. hmmmmmmmmm:rolleyes:

I look forward to hearing about the N. Ky teams.

Gover along with the rest of the Somerset Future AAU team go to Meece Middle. I will keep you up to date on there progress. This should be a great year for middle school basketball. I can't wait for it to begin.

Keep us posted on Rose Hill this year. Sound like they are solid 6th-8th. If you hear about other teams in the northeast that are playing good Bball, let us know.

Well, he won't be "the man" on this team, only one of the men. He will get perhaps more exposure due to the fact that RH will be playing in some large tourneys for the next several seasons. However, currently, he's doing quite well as a tight end, D tackle, and is a terrific kicker. I for one am tickled he's here, his mom is also a wonderful lady!

Well I am happy he is doing well. If he is not "the man" then that says alot about the talent down there. He was very good last year at many facets of the game whether it be rebounding, shooting the J, handling the rock in transition, etc.
