  1. 4 years active duty 80 - 84 Air Force, supported Desert Storm. Retired Air National Guard, loved it. I got the opportunity to grow up and learn responsibility while traveling all over the world. The greatest part is the life long friendships that I made.
  2. Good luck guys, Jumper Nation will miss you!!! This is 2 very special young men thave been excellent player/leaders for our team for 4 years!
  3. I like the idea that a coach who does not coach 5 Mcdonald All Americans year in year out should get serious consideration. Having said that I like Stallings at Vanderbilt and was hoping he would get serious consideration for the I.U. job. Mark Few is another good suggestion. I am big blue biased but do believe that we have 1 of the top 5!!!!
  4. Like others I believe that coach Pitino is the difference. I think Louisville big by 12 or more.
  5. Wel that Ark. win at home looks better now!! The Ar.win over Tn. has to help us. O.R. I don't believe or at least I hope that "resident all knowing expert" comment was not directed at my statement saying that 12 wins in the sec did not garner as much as in years past. I do not claim to be an expert,it is just an opinion!
  6. I voted no based on the fact that 12 wins in the SEC this tear just does not carry as much weight as in most years. Their 10-2 record at end of year is just not impressive outside of Tn.. The Ark. win was at home. The one thing I feel that may get them in is San Diego winning their conference tournament. I hope they are in and do believe they are more than capable of getting to the sweet 16.
  7. That is exactly what I said back when Chris Dautry sang his version of Johnny Cash's "Walk the Line", and yes I agree that kid did a fantastic job on that song! Pretty ballsy to take on a Beatles classic this early in the competition.
  8. Coach Thacker is a good coach but for some reason some of the kids he depends on do not play with any toughness, way too soft!! I hope his job is not in jeopardy, he is a good coach and a good man! Good job by Coach Flynn once again!! Good luck to all 3 county teams!!
  9. Belfry, will eventually wear Central down. The Belfry defense in my opinion is under rated. They are punishing, add that to an offensive line that seems to get stronger all game long with backs like May and Lee who are big, athletic, and fast. I just see Belfry wearing down Central. I do think Belfry is one of the 4 or 5 teams in the state, considering even Bowling Green, Highlands, Louisville and Lexington teams. While they may not be down on the field playing I can tell you that those Pirate fans do affect the game as their team feeds off their support! Good luck Pirates!
  10. Congrats John, What a great young man and family! The Jumper community is very proud of you!! I cannot wait to make those trips to Nashville to watch you play man!
  11. As long as he isn't breaking the law,,,,,and he wins eventually. Who cares?? He is old enough to drink and sleep by himself or find someone to sleep with him! How did it ever get to the point that someone in his position is wrong to party and be flirtatious and chase the ladies. He is an adult single man who happens to be a basketball coach!! Nothing more, he is not the moral compass of every young man in the state of Ky..
  12. Congrats Pirates and all those fans that came from "Pond Nation". It is always tough to lose but what a class group to lose to. Your coaches, team and fans are just top notch. I was very proud of our Jumpers tonight. The best team won the game but I do feel that the pass that was ruled incomplete that John caught inside our 35 was a momentum killer for us. WYMT had replays that their announcers felt showed it to be a catch. However that one play in no way affected the outcome. Clark Field has plenty of seating for the visitors with a capacity of about 2,000 and those bleachers were solid red and white Friday night. Only when we have our local county rivalry games does the visitors or home side get that much attention. It is no wonder that your young men play so hard!! Good luck Belfry Pirates you have won over some Purple and Gold supporters. Watusi, I didn't know that was you when I spoke to you at your car of course but however briefly we got to speak it was nice meeting you. P.S. on a side note: How many touchdowns were actually called back on the one series 2 or 3, most coaches would have blown up over that but Coach Haywood handled that very professionaly!!
  13. Almost time, good luck to both teams. Hope for all Belfry players and fans to have a safe trip over to the game. Go Jumpers!
  14. There will be plenty of seating trust me. Somerset has the 5th largest stadium in the state and probably the largest visitor's section of anyone. It is bigger that most team's home section. Point taken, I just feel that for Somerset to win it will have to be a shootout. Somerset's run defense has been non-existant this year and if that doesn't change tonight they are going to have to score in the 40's to win.
  15. Nothing is impossible. I'm sure that Belfry fans are hoping for a shutout of the Somerset offense just like we are hoping to drop 40 on the Belfry D. Will either happen? Maybe, maybe not. I am just expecting both teams with the talent and the coaching that each possesses to play the best game they have all year. If both teams do so, I feel like anything could happen in this one.
  16. I have been hoping for this matchup all season long. With two of the most tradition rich programs and two of the best coaches in Eastern Kentucky going against each other it should make for an exciting game, I doubt we'll see any let up from either team in this one. I think if the Jumpers can jump out early and protect the ball they can win, but I don't see Belfry turning the ball over much so if Somerset has trouble with turnovers it could be a long night. Let me just say we Somerset fans have tremendous respect for Belfry and their fans and we look forward to having you at the Briar Patch tomorrow night. That being said.... Somerset 42 Belfry 40
  17. Congrats young Jumpers!! You played hard and earned a hard fought win!! You have made Meece fans proud for the championship and for the way you played the games!! Man is football going to be exciting in Jumper country for the next few years!! No wonder Coach Cobb stayed with the purple and gold!! Hey this team can tackle and will punish you. That is going to be fun to watch.
  18. Great defensive game plan by Lincoln Co. If P.C. could have gotten that touchdown late in the first half and not had the blown coverage on the next drive I still believe Lincoln wins but we are lookjing at a very close game. Very good defensive game plan again I must say!!! Maroons will be ok, Muse, Hines and the gang are too good not to be heard from in playoffs. Go Maroons!!
  19. The Jumpers D-line and O-lines will have to play the game of their lives and while everyone is watching Bro Cole there is a young man named Kenny Hughes that may have a say in the game. I think it will be a hard fought contest until mid 3rd quarter then the hounds wear down the lines and Corbin may win a close one. I am excited to watch this one to see where the Jumpers are after their soft schedule. Go Jumpers!! Jordan be a leader man, and show the way for the line man!!
  20. The officiating was not good but it did not affect the outcome of the game. I appreciate the comments about Max being honest and fair because you are right howeve he has nothing to do with scheduling the refs. That is thru the referee association and their assigning clerk. He will have a full crew there Monday night. These refs have called a couple Meece games this year and have done a very good job they just had a bad night, not necassarily with their calls but their signals and communication was terrible. A playoff game deserved better and as a Meece parent I apologize to the Clay Co. parents who deserved better and I hope no one would think that Meece coaches, parents or school officials wanted things to go the way they did. Now let's go Jumpers and beat the Redhounds Friday and Monday night!!!
  21. I am going to throw one of our local guys in the fray. Chris Muse of Pulaski Co., may be a year away from being the "best" in state but hard to argue with what he has done so far this year in taking a team that had won 4 games the previous 2 years to being undefeated this year. He is very athletic, fast, and an accurate passer but to me his best trait is the kid makes great decisions. He just does not make mistakes and does not put them in negative situations. As a Somerset fan I cannot wait to watch him the rest of his high school career.
  22. Does anyone know how the P.C. quarterback is doing? I would like to commend Jpey and his coaching staff first for having his team ready and having them play hard. Second for their compsure in a tense situation after the hit on their q.b. emotions were starting to rise and he and the staff did a great job in handling his football team. Congrats to the Jumpers for a big win. AJG how is it a mythical county champion when the Jumpers beat both county teams 7th and 8th grade teams?
  23. Yep almost gametime, field looks great. Let's hope for 2 good football games!! 7th grade should be a good game, if we play hard and tackle I believe the Jumpers win and think the 8th graders name the score. Those boys do still remember and have waited for this one.
  24. The way my picks have gone this year the SW fans are going to hate me but I am going with in a close one. SW17 Mercer 14
  25. Better bring the ice packs, this will be tough football game. Newsflash: The Warriors have a balanced offense this year!!! SW 21 Lincoln 14
