Pulaski Co. 57 Somerset 36
Coach Thacker is a good coach but for some reason some of the kids he depends on do not play with any toughness, way too soft!! I hope his job is not in jeopardy, he is a good coach and a good man! Good job by Coach Flynn once again!! Good luck to all 3 county teams!!

Belfry vs. Louisville Central 3A State Championship
Belfry, will eventually wear Central down. The Belfry defense in my opinion is under rated. They are punishing, add that to an offensive line that seems to get stronger all game long with backs like May and Lee who are big, athletic, and fast. I just see Belfry wearing down Central. I do think Belfry is one of the 4 or 5 teams in the state, considering even Bowling Green, Highlands, Louisville and Lexington teams. While they may not be down on the field playing I can tell you that those Pirate fans do affect the game as their team feeds off their support! Good luck Pirates!

John Cole (Somerset) named 2007 Kentucky Gatorade Football Player of the Year
Congrats John, What a great young man and family! The Jumper community is very proud of you!! I cannot wait to make those trips to Nashville to watch you play man!

Belfry 38 Somerset 21 (3A)
Congrats Pirates and all those fans that came from "Pond Nation". It is always tough to lose but what a class group to lose to. Your coaches, team and fans are just top notch. I was very proud of our Jumpers tonight. The best team won the game but I do feel that the pass that was ruled incomplete that John caught inside our 35 was a momentum killer for us. WYMT had replays that their announcers felt showed it to be a catch. However that one play in no way affected the outcome. Clark Field has plenty of seating for the visitors with a capacity of about 2,000 and those bleachers were solid red and white Friday night. Only when we have our local county rivalry games does the visitors or home side get that much attention. It is no wonder that your young men play so hard!! Good luck Belfry Pirates you have won over some Purple and Gold supporters. Watusi, I didn't know that was you when I spoke to you at your car of course but however briefly we got to speak it was nice meeting you. P.S. on a side note: How many touchdowns were actually called back on the one series 2 or 3, most coaches would have blown up over that but Coach Haywood handled that very professionaly!!

Belfry @ Somerset (3A)
Almost time, good luck to both teams. Hope for all Belfry players and fans to have a safe trip over to the game. Go Jumpers!

Belfry @ Somerset (3A)
There will be plenty of seating trust me. Somerset has the 5th largest stadium in the state and probably the largest visitor's section of anyone. It is bigger that most team's home section. Point taken, I just feel that for Somerset to win it will have to be a shootout. Somerset's run defense has been non-existant this year and if that doesn't change tonight they are going to have to score in the 40's to win.

Belfry @ Somerset (3A)
Nothing is impossible. I'm sure that Belfry fans are hoping for a shutout of the Somerset offense just like we are hoping to drop 40 on the Belfry D. Will either happen? Maybe, maybe not. I am just expecting both teams with the talent and the coaching that each possesses to play the best game they have all year. If both teams do so, I feel like anything could happen in this one.

Belfry @ Somerset (3A)
I have been hoping for this matchup all season long. With two of the most tradition rich programs and two of the best coaches in Eastern Kentucky going against each other it should make for an exciting game, I doubt we'll see any let up from either team in this one. I think if the Jumpers can jump out early and protect the ball they can win, but I don't see Belfry turning the ball over much so if Somerset has trouble with turnovers it could be a long night. Let me just say we Somerset fans have tremendous respect for Belfry and their fans and we look forward to having you at the Briar Patch tomorrow night. That being said.... Somerset 42 Belfry 40

Great defensive game plan by Lincoln Co. If P.C. could have gotten that touchdown late in the first half and not had the blown coverage on the next drive I still believe Lincoln wins but we are lookjing at a very close game. Very good defensive game plan again I must say!!! Maroons will be ok, Muse, Hines and the gang are too good not to be heard from in playoffs. Go Maroons!!

Corbin/Somerset predictions
The Jumpers D-line and O-lines will have to play the game of their lives and while everyone is watching Bro Cole there is a young man named Kenny Hughes that may have a say in the game. I think it will be a hard fought contest until mid 3rd quarter then the hounds wear down the lines and Corbin may win a close one. I am excited to watch this one to see where the Jumpers are after their soft schedule. Go Jumpers!! Jordan be a leader man, and show the way for the line man!!

Best quarterback in the state
I am going to throw one of our local guys in the fray. Chris Muse of Pulaski Co., may be a year away from being the "best" in state but hard to argue with what he has done so far this year in taking a team that had won 4 games the previous 2 years to being undefeated this year. He is very athletic, fast, and an accurate passer but to me his best trait is the kid makes great decisions. He just does not make mistakes and does not put them in negative situations. As a Somerset fan I cannot wait to watch him the rest of his high school career.

Pulaski vs Mercer--Predictions
Hey Madness thanks for trying to pump up the Friday night game of the week. I hope they come to Somerset and catch your game as well. To the game I am anxious to see how P.C.s speed holds up. I believe that Mercer will be a team that can match them. Chris, Winston and Ronnie get theirs but who will step up besides them. I am seriously pulling for the Maroons but I believe experience in big games wins out, even though Mercer did graduate a whole team. Head says Mercer 21 P.C. 17 Heart says P.C. 35 Mercer 21.

Pulaski County 50 Russell County 28
Cap I think you have hit it right on about the team chemistry and how they are having fun. I noticed this at the Somerset game and commented on it. Congrats to the Maroons!!

Rockcastle County 35 Southwestern 21
I thought the young man that came in for T.T. did a very respectable job. He was a tough kid. The pass he completed down the middle for a long first down in the late 3rd or early 4th quarter was tough. He stood in and took a huge hit but made a great throw. I really thought SW was in control until Rock's line just wore em down. That was a good first game for both programs amd both of our teams that played later could have learned how to tackle someone watching you guys. If I don't get a chance to make it to Metcalfe Co. this Friday I will be cheering on the Warriors at the reservation.

Pulaski County 62 Somerset 49
Jumper2005 the secondary and defense are part of playing the game and last night(this morning) we just did not get it done. It got almost ridiculous seeing our guys go down practically every play in the second half with cramps. There were times we would have 2-3 guys down, I do not recall Pulaski having one player down with cramps. Chris Muse is all-state potential before he graduates. Did he make a poor decision all night?? P.C. did not have a turnover either that I remember. Fans could tell before the game started which team was more intense and prepared to play. Were the Jumpers overconfident?? Kudos to our freshman bunch also from Andy. J.P. and Derrick showed they belong on the field with anyone. Coach Cobb will have this team ready this Friday night and we will have another very good season. This is a tough game to lose to a county rival but we should have learned alot from this game.

Somerset vs Mercer Co. Sat. Night?
If I was a Southwestern or PC fan I would be in favor of the Ray Correll bowl. If one of these two schools got to where they were consistently losing every year to their much smaller cross town rival it could be very harmful to the program.

Somerset's Jay Cobb to Henderson County:
Good luck to Coach and family!! He will certainly be missed but I wish him the best. Henderson Co. is not only getting an outstanding football coach but a class person and family! I know our current players and especially our seniors will miss him tremendously but guys you gave Jay a great ride for the last few years let's just take our new coach to those same levels!

Top WR's this year in '07
Regardless of what the question was, John Cole is the best receiver in the state.

2007 Somerset
Chase's sophomore year he got in quite a bit at the Q.B. position and I felt like he used his tight-ends and backs better than Ross. Chase led some big drives in the Lynn camp game and had a good series or 2 against N.C.C.. I do not know about his arm strength but it seems like he has a rocket as a catcher playing for the baseball team. I think the quarterback spot is good this year and for the next few for the Jumpers. J-1 I still do not see those numbers, I hope you are right about the 40 or so. You are absolutley correct in Fitzpatrick and Shoemaker coming out will help us. Fitz, I believe will be a threat at reciever also. He is an all around athlete. I am looking forward to John's senior year. What a pleasure to watch on a football field. I wish he could put on about 20 poinds and maintain that speed, quickness and agility!!!

2007 Somerset
Numbers seem to be the big question mark for the Jumpers early. Not many out for spring practice. From what I saw there were right at 20 there counting the baseball players.
