Schedule for both schools shows Saturday Sept 1st 8:00 pm.

 

Anybody know why it is on Saturday or did both schools submit the 1st when it should have been the 31st. I need to know to make my schedule for work.

I noticed the same thing, I wonder if Somerset is preparing itself to possibly be playing on one of the county fields. Although I do believe that the field will be ready--thats what the professionals are telling the administration--it doesn't hurt to have plan B in place.

Hopefully, I can witness a good game between the 2 ...:ylsuper:

Mercer County will play Southwestern Sept. 21 @ SWHS. They (Mercer) will also face Pulaski County, as they are in the newly formed District 7 (5-A) along with SWHS, Pulaski, Lincoln, and S. Laurel...:thumb:

I live in Mercer co. now. But, I grew up in somerset. So, I will definitely make a couple of trips back to somerset this year.

And yet Somerset refuses to play both Pulaski and Southwestern. Not to mention that they they always get to play at home for this every-other year "rivalry"

I don't have an administration.

Just a High School Football fan who would love to see SW vs SHS every year and SHS vs. PC every year.

No one is forcing the county schools to play in the Correll Bowl, they can choose to skip it if having to drive either 1 or 5 miles to play a school half their size is too much of an advantage for Somerset. This is football, the fields are all the same dimensions and there's no travel involved so it only makes sense to play it at the largest/nicest venue. Both Pulaski and Southwestern have much larger schools so they should have larger crowds too--that should negate any advantage Somerset has by getting to use their own locker room. Somerset has more than held their own in the series with both county schools, they don't have to make any apologies for who they play.

What is Somerset expecting to have this season? Is it too early to talk about match-ups? I know Mercer lost alot of kids off of last years squad including their top 3 backs. New Qb to work with, entirely new secondary, lost a couple of very good linebackers, but both lines will pretty much be the same as last year, almost. They will have good team speed but not like they had last season. I'm just needing my football fix.
