Ok I have waited to see if our running back Hughes was going to be able to play and he says he is ready so I will now make my prediction. Field is still a little sloppy from last week so that may slow down both teams. Somerset defense has improved steadily from week to week and I almost predicted a shutout but don't believe that will happen. Somerset 35 Cumerland 10

D-2 I also extend a welcome or welcome back maybe to the site. Good luck to the Dragons tonight. Whichever teams come out tonight let's just hope there are no injuries and everyone is healthy in our district so we keep that Region championship trophy on our side of the hill!!!!

John had 2nd fastest time at the Notre Dame recievers camp and was consistently 4.5, 4.6 and did hit 4.4. Look for him to grow an inch or 2 to be 6'1" to 6'2" coming out of high school. He is quicker than he is really fast. He is sinewy!!!

If Southwestern is healthy I think they will beat Boyle again and believe they will be playing for a region championship! I have felt all season that this is the year they make a breakthrough and go a ways in the playoffs. It all depends upon them being at 100% personnel wise though.

We weren't expected to beat that County team.

I think it comes down to depth. W-burg has 4-5 really nice athletes but Harlan can match that and is more balanced and is just more physical. I look for a good close game but the Dragons wear em down late and win by 10. 24-14

Somerset has met expectations so far as a team. The defense has exceeeded expectations just from where we started out the year. We did not meet expectations by only beating Harlan 14-7 due to a wet field:D

Chief there was a hold on that play. It was away from the play but our kid did grab I think it was #9. It did not affect the play because he was not going to catch John. Again I want to give our defense a big thanks!! Somerset fans have kinda been on them all season (including me) so now that they are actually the guys that pulled this one out I want to congratulate them.

The Jumpers took the first possesion and ran it downfield for a score. Harlan sold out shutting down John Cole and I would have thought that we would exploit the rest of the defense but they played a majority of the game with 3 down linemen that gave us fits. Thanks to some good running and decisions by Ross Deaton Somerset went up 14-0. Harlan came back to score before half and then man what a defensive battle. Sloppy conditions made it a sloppy game with a few turnovers and 2 blocked punts by Somerset and a huge blocked punt by Harlan that gave then great field postion late. Somerset's defense grew up and won this for the Jumpers. Cam Jones was a MAN tonight, mnaking huge tackles and a big int. on a second half drive. I will say that I would not want to play the Dragons in 2 weeks at their place so this was just a monstrous win for the Jumpers. What an exciting game. Congrats to both teams and good luck Harlan I really look forward to a rematch in 2 weeks.

I think everyone is saying basically the same thing here guys, Harlan has the better defense while Somerset has the better offense. D-pappy has not said any different and Jumper fans all agree. Now come friday we get to the fun part and get to watch these young men lay it out there for the #1 seed in the district!! Man it just don't get any better!!!! I like to see the Camper posters and fans from other teams that both Somerset and Harlan have played because they should be non-prejudicial in their opinions. That is where we should get a true gauge on how this plays out.

I was a little concerned about the physicalness of Harlan compared to what had been a soft Somerset defense but, after this past Friday night when Somerset didn't just stop Lynn Camp they punished them. My prediction now is Somerset 38 Harlan 21, at that I am giving Harlan a late t.d.. Good luck Jumpers and may the fans from Harlan have a safe trip over to the Briar Patch. If ya get there early enough the Jumper fans usually have a kickin tailgate party with plenty of good food, please come and join us just outside the entrance in the grass. I haven't heard or read any comments from Coach Mitchell but Lynn Camp is definitely 1 dimensional. Even at that I felt like they could have been more successful running Scalf more. The quarterback just got beat up and was physically whipped by the end of the 3rd quarter. This is the most physical I have seen the Jumpers all year. The first drive that the Campers just ran down our throat had me worried but man our defense finally stepped up and just hit em in the mouth. If the defense continues to improve and the running game keeps producing my early thoughts about us not playing with P-ville and the teams from up north could be proven bad wrong. I sure hope so. The Jumpers were a fun team to watch tonight!!

I am going with John Cole, if he grows another inch or 2 and puts on some muscle he will be scary!!! Hey Average Joe who do you think will be throwing the ball to him next year?? I am not real worried either way, would love for hall to be there but if Manning can grow some, there is not a kid out thtere that competes harder than he does!!! He is a tough nut!!

Kudos to the young man, he was very impressive and a pleasure to watch compete. If he had played our defense all year the way we played him at Lex Cath on opening night he would be all-world!!!

Sorry guys I did not mean that he was taunting. You can't tell but it just looked to me like the young man did his job and just got up.

Southern Cross is correct in what happened at the Briar Patch but those young people were not from our school. We had 2 assistant coaches and the A.D. go to remove them and they came back to your side of the field. I didn't know the mayor's were involved but it did take the police to remove them from the premises. The incident that occured at Williamsburg also had the police to get involve. I just hope tonight the focus will stay on the young men on the field and they all play their hearts out....and Somerset wins!!!

AJG you got it right!!! Jumpers too soft yet to make a deep run. Danville is the team to beat- even with the Ads faithful playing them down this year. The Usual Suspects this year, Mayfield, Danville NCC or Beechwood. Pikeville and B-town just behind that group.
