AverageJoesGym Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Final. Sounds like Rockcastle came up with the adjustments on defense at halftime and shut the Warriors out in the second half. Coach Anderson said in an interview that he felt like his defense was ahead of his offense at this point but some observers of SW's scrimmages felt like the corners of their defense were suspect. Sounds like that was correct. Much more offense than what I anticipated but about the result. I actually originally picked Rockcastle 27-13 so I had the margin right but I let the fact that SW shut out Russell Co and Wayne Co in scrimmages cloud my judgement into thinking their defense was a little better than what it was.
Jesse James Posted August 25, 2007 Author Posted August 25, 2007 Wayne moved the ball really well last week against Southwestern. They had the ball inside the 5 two times and fumbled. The Warriors will only get better this year, although I did think that their defense was suspect last week.

I just felt that of the 2 programs Rockcastle was better equipped to "reload" than Southwestern and it appears that assumption was correct.
rockcastleraiders Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Great game. I want to say that the Warrior fans were GREAT! The referees were whistle-crazy but they were balanced. Rock just had the better day. Don't hang your head, Keemo and the rest of you BGP SW supporters should be proud.
3wishes Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Is TT alright, he left the game with an injury it appeared late in the 3rd...
MEDICINEMAN Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Great game. I want to say that the Warrior fans were GREAT! The referees were whistle-crazy but they were balanced. Rock just had the better day. Don't hang your head, Keemo and the rest of you BGP SW supporters should be proud.... Thanks, It was a good game until our QB got the concussion in the 3rd qtr. That is no excuse except that he is a team leader and when he got injured it seemed to take the momentum away and Rock capitalized and actually played batter ball all the way around. The Rockets played Rockcastle smash mouth football as always. It was a great night of football. We will regroup and fix a few things this week and get ready to battle Danville. By the way, our QB TT will be okay. His Mother rushed him to our local Hosp.and he was diagnosed with a concussion and dehydration. Get well soon TT. We did have bright spots in the game and at this point it is a learning experience...Our Kids are let down and we will get their chins up and they truly are proud to be a Warrior. Congradulations go out to all you Rockcastle supporters and the powerful Rocket Football Team...Hope to see you again next year...:thumb:
doodle Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Congratulations to the ROCK team they played a good ballgame and congratulations to Casey Hayes for best offensive player in that game. Also congrats to the player on Southwestern for the defensive award.
statmanhensley Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 After working right at 10 hours at the John Toebben Soccer Classic here at Northern Kentucky University and putting in another hour+ here in the office, I can't wait to wake up at 9am to be ready to hear the replay at 9:30am. There aren't too many things I would go on very little sleep for, but Rocket football is one of them. My cellphone died on me right after I made my weekly pre-game phone call to the radio crew for Rockcastle County, thus not allowing me to get updates like I'm used to. I had to borrow someone's phone to get an update in the fourth quarter. LOL.

Rock is just able to reload better at this point. However, I think the young Warriors (who may take some more lumps next week) will be a force to reckon with in their district. This game was about getting better and I'm sure SW will do that. Good luck the rest of the year!
3wishes Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Time of Possession Rock: 29 minutes SW: 19 minutes Rushing Yards: Rock: 54-302 yards SW: 29-85 yards Passing Yards Rock: 7-11 for 105 yards SW: 7-19-2 for 206 yards Total Yards Rock: 65 for 407 yards SW: 48 for 291 yards Penalties Rock: 9-62 yards SW: 10-86 yards Cody Mize for Rock ran 24 times for 166 yards and the Offensive MVP Casey Hayes ran 14 times for 94 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was a beast, thunder and lightening between these two. First game for the starting 10t hgrader at QB went 6-10 for 79 yards and 1 TD he also ran 6 times for 21 yards. Rock runs their record to 8-3 over the Warriors all time.
ROCKETMAN68 Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 I think that the Rockcastle Co. lineman played well also, considering there are only 2 seniors up front.
AverageJoesGym Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 I think that the Rockcastle Co. lineman played well also, considering there are only 2 seniors up front. Sounds like it. They averaged almost 6 yards per carry against a defense that Dale Anderson had touted, and had better than a 60% completion percentage. Sounds like the moved the ball at will. But it also sounds like they must improve greatly on defense.
JC Alumni 76 Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Did Miller graduate cause I thought he was a Jr last season when they played JC? With that kind of heart I expected him to have a huge season, that is if he hasnt already graduated.
