2008 Pulaski County

Featured Replies

What does Pulaski County need to do to improve in 2008? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

My guess is, for Coach Hines to keep coaching the players they have. They return a bunch of starters and had good JV and Freshman teams.

Better be in shape for the first game and better be prepared for a first game loss to Rockcastle. We are loaded this year and expecting great things. See ya in the Bowl Game.:fire:

Unless PC drops off a ton or Rock is a TON BETTER than last year I don't see it happening.

PC has some key players to replace but most skill kids return. D may be down but offense should be better with another year for QB, who by the way will just be a Junior this coming year.

I was fortunate enough to see the PC/SW game this year at PC. I will say that Muse was the real deal for a sophomore QB. He has good scrambling ability and a good arm. The only drawback that I can see is that it looked to me that he had a tad too long of a throwing motion and when he threw the ball, it looked like he shot-putting it but once it leaves his hands, it gets there in a hurry.

No passing and all running is what I have heard of Pulaski offense. No pass and all run = defeat in the first game. Rockcastle will not let Pulaski run the ball. All Rockcaslte fans feel this is a win, not only because of name, but Rockcastle has a ton of experiance back and returns almost the whole team

Maroons will surprize the Rock. They will be confident and still hungry after the success this past year. It will be fun to watch.

What about the fact the Pulaski returns almost their whole team as well. I'm not a Maroon fan but I saw both teams last season and Pulaski was the better team. As for not throwing the ball Chris Muse threw for 1700 yards and 16 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions, plus he ran the ball for 1973 yards and 19 touchdowns. In addition Winston Hines returns, he rushed for 1200 yards and 15 touchdowns. Don't get too caught up in the name on the jersey--Pulaski will be a load this season.

As a former player, Rockcastle is expected to win. dont get to caught up on Pulaski having starters back either. I bet if Rockcastle played Pulaski last year Rockcastle would have won. Rockcastle has stopped players a lot better than Hines, he is a good HS back, not great. you and Pulaski will find this out week one.

Sorry ...but no! Rock would have had no chance last year. They struggled with a poor Southwestern team and never looked impressive. Pulaski on the other hand looked good in all but there last game. I AM NOT A PC FAN but there is no way last years Rock team would have beaten them and I would be more than shocked if this years did.

Comparable games Last year

Southwestern..... Rock 35-21 w..... PC 41-15 w..... Advantage PC

Wayne..... Rock 35-0 w..... PC 52-18 w..... Draw

Lincoln..... Rock 2-12 L ..... PC 14-22 L ..... Slight edge to PC

Mercer ..... Rock 6-14 L ..... PC 23-22 w ..... Advantage PC

Knox Central..... Rock 14-0 w ..... PC 27-6 w ..... Advantage PC

Glad to see you local Jumpers standing up for we poor, unworthy Maroons.

I saw Rockets play every game last year, and I only saw Pulaski play once. My gut feeling is that Pulaski would have won by a couple touchdowns. It would have been a much more even game in 07.

Rockcastle lost most of their key defensive players.( Burkhart, Daughtery, Kirby, Perkins and Mchone), the last 2 injured their knees and are not expected to return. We also lost our sole long play threat in Perkins. The Rockets line will be small and thin on numbers. To add to the problem Rockcastle County had the weakest Freshmen and JV teams they have had in the last 20 years and all of their back-ups will be youngsters with no varsity and little experience of any kind.

The Rockets do have 6-7 kids with experience on one side of ball or the other but Pulaski has 10-12 kids returning who are far more athletic and have more game experience than the Rockets. If athleticism and experience mean anything the maroons will have little trouble pulling away in this contest.

I know the Rocket coaches and kids will work hard and have a good game plan , but as much as my heart wants to hope the Rock can keep it close the facts say otherwise !!

Sounds like the maroons are up and coming ..... Can they top what they did last season? 10-2 that's pretty impressive. Did they gaduate alot of kids?

PC lost all time leading tackler and some linemen but return nearly all of the skill kids. Muse at QB is elusive and very fast and if he gets some patience in the pocket could really be a duel threat next year. PC needs to schedule tougher out of district games early to get these kids for what should be a much tougher district this year. That said they would be my favorite to win the district next year.
