I've watched Highlands play Trinity and have watched BG vs St X. even tough the Birds were no match for the Rocks I was very impressed with there discipline and Defensive Schemes and because of thier dfense I'll give the edge to Highlands in a match up with BG. The Purples have shown me that they are definiatly one of the Best teams in Ky this year but the Birds would win in a close one if the played this year IMO.

 

Good luck to the Purples & Birds in nexts weeks Finals.

All the HHS talk is good and all, but this year the Bluebirds take a backseat to BG. The Purples have too many seniors and 2 and 3 year starters, partcularly at the skill positions. National rankings are correct. BG is the better team in 2011. Final word...

Can't stop, won't stop. BG beat Lousville St. X. Louisville St. X beat Cincy St. X. Cincy St. X beat Elder and beat them 21-6. Highlands beat Elder 34-29. I think it is fair to say that based off all of those results BG is capable of beating Highlands.

Highlands fans act as though BG can't beat or play with Highlands but there isn't one speck of evidence that comes to that conclusion. It is still all speculation. BG would definitely be one of the best defenses Highlands would face all year, there is proof of that. BG also has speed on both sides of the ball to keep up with Highlands also. I'd also be shocked if BG's slow o-line was any slower than Boyle's was this year and when I watched BG they didn't seem to have many(if any) players playing both ways. I don't think BG couldn't beat Highlands. I just don't think they would. As I've previously stated, BG has an excellent team. I'll agree with you in re BG's defense. Very good and very fast. They looked very good against LexCath, but you have to admit that LexCath is pretty one dimensional and doesn't have much of a running game; they looked very good against Warren Central, but you have to admit that WC is also pretty one dimensional and doesn't have much of a passing game. One has to wonder if BG would be able to play that press, lots of people in the box defense against Highlands because Highlands can both pass and run the ball very well. A team that can pass and run really does force a defense to do things they don't have to do against one dimensional offenses. Perhaps you disagree with that. Remember , Highlands beat Elder at the pit , wih Highlands D1 QB sitting on the bench with a concussion after the first series. Could BG beat Elder with their starting QB sitting on the bench ?

I don't disagree that Highlands can or would beat BG. I disagree that Highlands is in a different class(not the literal version) than BG, or that BG would get whipped like Christian County last year, a resounding no they can't beat Highlands and comments of that ilk. I think it would be a good game and would love to see how one of BG's best teams ever would fare against one of Highlands best teams ever.

How does anyone that has posted an opinion in this thread know what they say is true? Did god speak to them? Unless HHS and BG play it's all speculation anyway. The difference is if anyone picks against HHS their haters and don't know what they are talking about. Heaven forbid an inferior team from the west could possibly be better than gods gift to football, the bluebirds.

 

I have not seen either play this year (only listened to the BG/Henderson game) so I can't say who is better. But I also know what happened last year, the year before, 2007, 1995, 1983, 1956, or whatever else year people want to drag up does not mean squat. I also know that BG's win over X is probably better than any win HHS has this year. I also know they both handled Lex Cath. HHS did beat Elder this year but it appears just about everybody did. HHS has the advantage at QB but for anyone that hasn't seen Scooter Hollis play he is probably the best athlete in the state no one talks about.

 

This could have been a fun thread had some of the HHS fans not gotten their panties in a wad over anyone daring to question the Birds superiority.
