It's really a great place to watch a ballgame, especially from the home side section. There is no track around the field, so, the stands are closer to the field than in most stadiums.

I'd love to make it to a Highlands home game someday. Talk to Dale and see if he can fit Mayfield into his schedule in the next year or 2. Hoping Towles is a great success at UK for the next 4-5 years.

 

That is a very big compliment and I am sure very well deserved. The only reason I ask these questions is it appears that Mayfield has lost 14 times in the semis and won 16 times. Somebody is beating them, either has their number or something else, This sounds like a beatable program.............................Just sayn, Good Luck Beechies.....

 

Does BW do an overniter for this game? or do they do it all in one day? Perhaps they loosen up those pockets over there and take those kids down the day before, or has that been attempted with no luck?

 

Their one nemesis in the same class has traditionally been Danville. I think the Cardinals own only one win vs. the Ads. Four times they met in the State Finals in AA and I think they've met about four times in the semi-finals of AA as well.

Mayfield has been in the finals 16 times and have won 8 and lost 8. I think that is right but I usually am wrong LOL.

 

You are right Hatz....Mayfield has beaten Danville only one time and that was in 2002.

I am not predicting a score but I have selected Mayfield as the winner. Now, without sounding like a waffler, it wouldn't suprise me if BW came in and stole one at Mfd. I have followed BW since 1992 and having good friends that were on the coaching staff and I have seen many games that BW was not suppose to win and they did anyway. I really wish that the game was closer. I am not traveling from Raceland in NEKY to Mayfield for this one. I think it will be a classic and I cannot wait to read about it. Good luck to both teams.

Beechwood has never beaten Mayfield. Mayfield is the Highlands of Western Ky. They have a great program and a very long history of winning. They are not too far behind the Bluebirds in all time wins. Beechwood will need to play their best game of the year to win Friday night.

Just looked at the long range weather forcast and it is calling for rain here Friday night and breeze 10-15 winds. This is a major plus for the run happy Tigers

Well, this is supposedly one of Beechwoods really good teams and Mayfield didn't take a dive this year, so, this is there chance. Now, if Mayfield wins this one, I don't want to hear that the Tigers really weren't that good, after the fact, because too many people been singing this Tiger teams praise all year long. I really don't want to hear they take a dive every year Beechwood is good either. A win friday should put that myth to rest. And the distance thing shouldn't have a bearing either. Mayfield had to go there and win at there place last year and would have to again next year, so, that goes both ways and it's up to the Tiger coaches to make sure that isn't a factor.

The winner of this game will win state easy in my opinion. From what I hear Mayfield is very fast and solid> Beechwood just seems to make alot of mistakes and penalties. If they dont clean it up Mayfield will send them home early. Good luck to both.

I have said Beechwood has not beaten anyone in 3 years except NCC twice. It looks like NCC wasn't as strong as thought since their early exit. Mayfield hammered Murray , who beat the new #1 team in 2A, Owensboro Cath. Mayfield has stepped up to the plate all season long. The 1st team defense has given up just 40 pts while their offense has gotten better and better. Mayfield is better on defense this season than last and is now just a step or so behind on their offense. I don't believe Beechwood has improved enough to win this game unless Mayfield makes mistakes and gives it to them. If Beechwood is the better team and wins, I will be among the 1st to say congrats and good luck in BG.
