I think winning 16 times and 15 times for MF and BW is pretty darn good. You generally play good teams and getting to the state title game is an achievement

Yep, that's what I was able to find.

While I'm on the Local 6 page, may as well post the highlights from last Friday night. Mayfield/Holy Cross highlights are 6 minutes in, Paducah Tilghman and Murray highlights proceed the Cardinals.

The fact that Beechwood has been to the title game 15 times and never had to face Mayfield in any of those trips is an interesting stat. Although these two were in different classes for a while and they also have been in different halves of the state as well. So I guess it isn't as surprising as it might seem for two teams with a combined 57 appearances in state semifinal games.

Hopefully that forecast holds true. This game is shaping up as a no excuses let's see who is the best match - as it should. No weather issues. The grass should be in good shape by Friday (I assume Mayfiald doesn't practice at the stadium). Both teams are about as healthy as can be expected at this time of year. Things are lining up for an awesome, much anticipated showdown.

Mayfield has beaten Beechwood twice in title games , 95 and 02.

The field is grass and is usually in very good condition. A few years back when both Graves and Mayfield played there, plus both JVs, Middle schools and elementary programs, it would get pretty worn by seasons end, but, it's alot less used nowadays and it does drain very well. Mayfield doesn't practice there either as they have there own practice facility at the school, so, that helps, too. It's really a great place to watch a ballgame, especially from the home side section. There is no track around the field, so, the stands are closer to the field than in most stadiums. There is a visitors section on the home side, as well, and I would suggest sitting over there if you want the best view of the game. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys. Maybe we can have an early meet and greet tailgate in the north endzone before the game. Anyone interested and if so, let's see if we can get it together.
