If you're looking for food, other than stadium grub, you may want to eat before arriving. Not only is the school on the other side of town, but that is where Mayfield's version of "restaurant row" (McDonalds, Snappy Tomato, BK, KFC, couple of very good BBQ joints.... the list goes on) also resides. It's a small town so you could probably find your way around, but if you don't want the hassle - something the next county over might be a better bet. A trip through Paducah, which is where Beechwood stayed last time down here, will bring the biggest choice of food and another 4 lane road in to town instead of along the Purchase Parkway, which is the way mapquest will lead you.

As far as parking goes, you basically have 3 choices. You can park directly behind the home bleachers, which is the biggest section, but, also the hardest to get out of when you leave. You can park on the east end of the stadium, which is behind the scoreboard, which to me is the easiest to exit from but does require you to climb a pretty steep hill to get to the entrance point behind the home bleachers, but, not any longer a walk than choice #1 or the 3rd choice is on the west side of the stadium, which is also easier to get out of, but, requires a longer walk. Just an FYI, I would suggest you get there early either way as I would expect a large contingent to role in about 6:45, especially with Tilghman, Lone Oak, Graves Co and most of the other area teams already eliminated, and parking will likely be tight by then.

There are 2 local stations that carry the game locally but if you are stuck in NKY it will be carried on the internet at mywymc.com

War Memorial has no 911 I am aware of but to get there if you program in the Days Inn it will take you to within visual distance of the stadium lights.

 

Comming into Mayfield you will be on the Purchase Parkway and will exit at the 24 mile marker which is the Highway 121 exit. (stadium lights will be visable at the top of the ramp) At top of ramp turn left and go to the second street on the right after crossing back over the Parkway. This is N. 17th Street, turn left at the second street on the left which is Coach Mac Drive (AKA Lockridge Street). You are at stadium.

 

To obtain a large selection of fast food in Mayfield. From the Purchase Parkway exit 24 near the stadium you will turn left at the top of the ramp and stay on this road which is part of a bypass around the city. Stay on this road for a couple of miles until you hit the fourth stop light. At this light turn right and this road will have about 10 different fast food selections and several local places. Then just back track to the stadium.

Now, if Mayfield wins this one, I don't want to hear that the Tigers really weren't that good, after the fact, because too many people been singing this Tiger teams praise all year long. I really don't want to hear they take a dive every year Beechwood is good either. A win friday should put that myth to rest. And the distance thing shouldn't have a bearing either. Mayfield had to go there and win at there place last year and would have to again next year, so, that goes both ways and it's up to the Tiger coaches to make sure that isn't a factor.

The paper says a 7:30 central time kickoff , that's 8:30 Beechwood time. I was told it was requested by Beechwood , which seems strange since it will get the fans who choose to drive back home at about 4 or so in the morning. it seems to me it could get Beechwood out of kilters with the late start.

 

8:30 eastern start seems odd. I know Harrodsburg went down to Mayfield for a state semifinal several years back and they played on Friday afternoon, maybe around 4pm. Mayfield folks might be able to help me out with that. It would seem that would be a better start time than 8:30.

It did indeed, until this years team anyway. J/K, or am I? :walk: IN all honesty though, I trully believe this is a state championship caliber Mayfield team. Awesome defense, balanced offense, excellent team speed, solid special teams, fundamentally sound, confident and they play with heart and as hard as any prior Mayfield team I can remember.
