I have been told by a BW Booster Board member that there is one "alcohol" bus and one "non-alcohol" bus headed to MF Friday for fan travel. Does anyone have details on this? To clarify, the alcohol bus is not affiliated with the school. My 6 year old daughter and I will be riding the non-alcohol bus. If MF happens to win then we will be riding different buses on the way back. You get the picture.

OK, let me see if I can clear it up for you. There was a post earlier in the thread about Mayfield 2010 being called the greatest Mayfield team ever. Then westsider posted this:

 

 

 

I remembered a lot of Mayfield fans commenting that Mayfield 2010 may be the greatest team ever. I did a search and found your post saying Mayfield 2010 is the greatest team ever. Westsider inferred it was a "only" a Beechwood supporter making that comment. You made that comment, as I believe other Mayfield fans did, so I put up my post about you to prove that this wasn't just some crazy comment by a Beechwood fan.

 

Whew! Hopefully that helps. Bottom line, it wasn't just some Beechwood fan stirring it up as westsider inferred. Some Mayfield fans speculated and/or commented that Mayfield 2010 was the greatest MHS team ever.

 

Which gets us back to this thread where some posters are now saying this 2011 team may be better. Hmmmmm.

As a BW supporter since 1991, (my son was a senior on the 2007 team) I have followed the Mayfield vs Beechwood discussions over the last few years and I can honestly say that based on what the posters have written, these two teams have a great deal of respect for each other. BW has rivals that we really do not like and find great pleasure in defeating Cov Cath and New Cath to name a few but this game is different. The word class comes to mind. These two teams represent what is great about high school football. Great coaching, great athletes, great community support, and clean play on the field. If BW ends up winning this game I will take no joy in Mayfields loss but will celebrate knowing that we went head to head with the best and came out victorious. I will be driving up from Tennessee for the game(had to leave Ft. Mitchell because of a job transfer) and look forward to watching a great game in what I expect will be a great setting. Good luck to all!

Should be a very good game. I think most of us have had fun "debating" our teams this season , a few feathers have been ruffled but its all been in fun. The game will be here shortly and this will all be over till next season. I like Mayfield's chances but I know we will have to play a great game. I know some of you Beechwood supporters are thinking the same about your team.

Oh, I agree. I've heard more than 1 Cardinal fan say that. I, myself, think they were the best offensive team ever and the stats back that up, but, some of those teams in the 70s and 80s were stacked and those guys played much tougher competition throughout the season and those teams were always deeper with quality players than nowadays and that stems from having about 400 kids in the school now vs 7-800 back then.. The teams now throw the ball a ton more, too. Back then, Jack Morris loved the strong defense and a 3 yds and a cloud of dust offense. Wasnt always pretty, but, it was effective..

Non is worth debating, Mayfield had a very very good team but we have plenty of those teams and I would put 2010 in top 5.

Yes, I think that 2010 was best MHS team ever, and, you are wrong, I was born here, (in the 1950's) played football there in the 70's, and have been an avid fan all my life!

Last yrs team certainly dominated its competition moreso than any past team, but, there again comes the schedule argument.
