Preseason # 4 Perry Co. Central jumped on the # 20 ranked Kittens of Ashland early by taking a 10 to 12 pt. lead in the 1st quarter with Rankin and Mason Co. transfer Smith doing most of the damage before Ashland closed the quarter with a short run as the quarter ended at 23 - 20 PCC. The Rankin and Smith combo pushed the lead to 47 - 40 at halftime. Note of interest, Noble appeared to be hurt still as she didn't appear to do much in the 1st half and did not play the second half. The 3rd quarter went back and forth ending at 62 -57 PCC.

The 4th quarter was a dogfight as the Kittens continued to battle back tying the score near the end of the quarter but PCC would prevail by a final score of 82 - 79. It was a great game to watch as both teams really went after each other by pressing most of the game. Ashlands press was especially effective as they caused many turnovers and turned them into baskets. As to players who stood out for Ashland it was varied as many different players scored as they appear to be very deep. Anyone who has stats for Ashland players feel free to post. I was most impressed with Rankin as she was a beast with the ability to finish and Smith who has a deadly jumper.

All in all it was a fun game to watch as both teams played hard and look to have successful seasons.

Bracken County began its preseason slate today with a 72-45 win over Madison Southern (played @ Berea). Sara Sticklen, pre-season player of the year in the 10th, leads the way with 26 points. Lady Bears will play Cooper @ Rupp Arena this Friday.
Do you know anything about Madison Southern or Cooper? Who would they compare to in the 10th region(Deming,St.Pat,etc.)

The bolded is a huge difference maker. Noble is a tremendous talent, one of the top 5 players in the state imo. Her early exit, due to a knee injury, from the state tournament game against Butler last March could have very well cost Perry Central a state title. They still played Butler to a 2 point loss, but with her they would have probably have advanced.
