I thought the Colonels did a great job of taking HHS top receiver out of the game. How many targets did he have? Seems like he was a non-factor after the big play. He needs to get more targets in the rematch for sure. I saw him open on more than several occasions, but they did not make him a target for whatever reason. Was he injured maybe?

They threw to him twice as far as I recall. He burned them on the first one for 80 and a TD. The next one was better contested and it fell incomplete. He was bracketed on every play from what I could tell.

No doubt about it. Is he a 4.5 guy?

It was nice to see the Birds go 5 wide to start the game with Sheehan, Collinsworth, McCoy, Turner and Christian. Sheehan is the only Sr of this group and I would expect to see these fine Juniors finding the endzone a lot the rest of the year.

 

Sheehan and Seidl are likely the fastest on the team. The overall team speed is phenomenal at Highlands.

My horse would be very talented Soph Ryan Greene. Another receiver just waiting his turn. We wll likely see Ryan become the primary return go to guy the next couple years....

I don't really buy that the Highlands D was gassed. The offensive line of Covington Catholic is big and most of all good. They did a better job against Highlands than Trinity's offensive line. With that said I think in order to beat Highlands the Cov. Cath. offense is going to have to be able to strike more quickly. Should be a fun Friday night in November. I'm sure both teams will come ready to play. At the end of the game after the teams had gone in I saw Towles giving a Cov. Cath. player and a couple of the Cov. Cath. crazies big bear hugs. It kinda puts things in prospective. As a Highlands fan I think most were getting tired of blowouts. After a game like this "Blowouts really ain’t so bad." :thumb:

Well.....one thing for Highlands that I think has been a concern in the past is getting players 4 full quarters. Now I will say they do plenty of work to be in shape (I cannot believe anybody does any more than they do.......?) but when you are not playing 4 quarters every Friday I would think it would take its toll the first few times you do. This is tough because when you are in a position where you are blowing people out in all but the first game of the season (prior to this one) it becomes an issue. This game might do more for the Birds than you think. While many people on here talk about the confidence boost to CovCath and what this does for them.............I suspect this game will do plenty to help the Birds cause as the season progresses.

Birds were gassed. Not sure how advantageous the 2 platoon system was in this game especially when the past several weeks haven't been at all challenging to the defense. Sad thing is, it doesn't get any better til Elder for the Birds. Cov Cath looked awfully fresh coming off a tough Beechwood game the week prior. One thing I wanted to mention, I was standing at the endzone when Towles broke off that run and it reminded me of Guidugli at State. Towles took over and wasn't going to be denied. Quite a leader, I must say.
