So we have confirmation it was 45 seconds left. Why didn't CCH use their two timeouts and force Highlands to make a play(s) instead of taking a knee?

 

But HHS could have just had Towles take a couple of steps backwards before taking a knee on 2nd and 9 taking more that just a second or two off the clock. Don't pretend to think that Dale would have just had Towles take three straight knees making HHS to have to punt without doing something to make the clock run longer!

That is true but I understand VOR's questions. Why not at least make Highlands have to do something.

Highlands Defense has been exposed. CCH did whatever they wanted today. They beat themselves by going for 3 instead of 7 and missing a late fieldgoal. Either of those points would've been plenty for the Colonels to nail a FG at the end of regulation. Highlands walked out of there today with their feathers between their legs. The D did get hammered but to there defense they were on the field a lot.....Highlands would score in 1 to 2 minutes and they got no rest. No excuse but that didnt help...plus they were so undersized against CC. I give CC all the props they deserve..they played about as well as you could. How are you not looking forward to the rematch....now thats much better than a 60 point blow out!

If you made me bet the ball crossed the line for a brief moment but, again, I'm not the guy standing at the goal line.

Has anyone called it close? I haven't seen it posted yet. I actually feel this will be a close one.

This game could have been made into a blowout, when the Birds got a turnover, deep in Colonel territory, while leading by 14. But they went three and out and then gave CCH an enormous runback on the punt. They go right in for the score and then Towles fumbles at their 20 on the first play of the next series. That gave them three more points to make it a four point game.

 

That was a sweet punt return. Give credit to #20 Conner Cleves for not one but two good blocks.

I am putting myself out on "The Homer list" here but IMVHO through my field glasses, I though Gabe was in as he fell on a HHS player and didn't hit the ground as he reached over the goal line with the ball.

 

One of the CovCath parents did the game with "HD" camera equipment (he is a professional cameraman) which makes for some great film! Really want to see his film on that play!

I take that back. I am looking forward to the rematch, but I am not looking forward to listening to another thread of Clyde's one liners.
