Bengals - Will they Shock Us?

Featured Replies

Could the Bengals be holding on to Palmer for next years draft and use him as draft bait to get the #1 over all pick?

They won't have to trade Palmer to get the #1 pick. They'll earn that themselves.

Let's just throw the season and draft Luck. Trade Dalton when we go 0-16 and start from there. He will have 50 mil to spend next year. At least that would show some sort of a plan. Mike Brown is really a genius hah

Luck is way too smart for that. He will NOT play for the Bengals. He will pull an Elway.

Bengals signed Dalton and all their draft picks plus resigned a bunch of their own free agents and also signed the Cardinals Deuce Lutui he was a starter.

Heard today on NFL radio network that the Bengals are $49 million under the cap, BEFORE releasing Odom--Hurry up and renew your season tickets!!

The salary floor might not start until 2013 so they'll be in no hurry to go higher.

Another big guy with a weight problem? He reported last year at just under 4 bills.

The perfect Bengal then!! Look forward to seeing him at Golden Corral!!

I really wish all the haters and naysayers on here would fly to Vegas and bet everything they have on the under for total wins. We shall see. I am the eternal optimist and I am hoping for a nice run from the Bengals over the next 5 years.

I fired on the under and I'm nervous about it. Their schedule is very easy early compared to late and if a team gets off to a good start that carries over. That doesn't mean Mike Brown is making wise moves though. Eternal optimists have had a bad couple of decades huh?

If you believe this you really are an optimist. Not sure they ever had a "nice run" for 5 years in their history, even when they had competent football people running the organization?? Regarding the under on total W/L's, if they can't win 5-6 games with that pathetic schedule; the NFL should force Brown to sell the team for shaming the league??

Oh man I got my first convert!!!!!!

Luck is way too classy to pull an Elway IMO.

I remember a very nice run in the 80's when they went to 2 Superbowls. I am optimistic because the cancer has been cut from this team and I feel Dalton is much better than Palmer and Green is heads and away a much better player than Chad Johnson every thought about being. I also love our young guys in Shipley and Gresham. I would continue to draft stud OL and look for a running back in the 3rd or 4th round next year. Dunlap will also be coming into his own this season. It's easy to hate on the team, but I am going to give these new young guys all the support they deserve. WHO DEY!

I am a very optimistic guy like you, however your wrong in basing your opinion on the last two years with Chad and Palmer. Saying Dalton is better than Palmer already, and Dalton hasn't taken a snap? We have seen plenty of QB, especially for the Bengals do horrible. Palmer actually had some really good yaers with the Bengals and led them to the playoffs, and besides for last season. When he was starting they were competitive and were still in the playoff race until the end of the year besides last year. As for Chad he led the league for 4 staight years in Yards, and honestly did have a great career for the Bengals. So that is wrong to say two rookies are better, when they have done nothing. I mean they very well could end up doing great, which they have the potential to do well in their careers. However as of now, its not even close to who is better.

Palmer was a very one dimensional QB who was very uncomfortable once he left the pocket. Dalton will prove to be a more complete QB who is better suited to play in this league and will be able to run the ball when he needs to. Palmer had concrete boots and was very slow. Dalton brings many more intangibles and you will be seeing this in the near future. I realize Chad had a good career here, but the last few years was a waste imo. A.J. Green's upside is far and away better than Chad's upside on Chad's best day. This kid has freakish talent and if he stays healthy will electrify this league with his abilities. Let me rephrase, both Dalton and Green will be better when their careers are over than Palmer and Johnson. Johnson's career is nearly over while Green's is just beginning. The Bengals have one of the best receiving corps in the league. I like this team's youth alot.

You're wasting your time on the Palmer debate with FC. I think there may be a man crush. lol. The teams youth in promising yes. But either they will be coached down, leave, or become bunglized over the next few years.
