July 29, 201115 yr Not a season ticket holder here. I think Mike Brown is as incompetent as a business owner as you will find . If you said "as a personnel man" I would agree. No way I agree as a businessman. He's proven he knows how to make money. My guess is he will have to make some adjustments soon in order to keep ticket revenue at an acceptable level.
July 29, 201115 yr Totally agree, but the "he" in this case (Palmer) had no choice which team he could play for, if he wanted to play professional football in the US. Do you really think anyone would choose to play for this team if they had an option?? Palmer had a choice. He could play for the Bengals or sit out a year and go to another team or he could do what Manning and Elway did and let them know upfront he wasn't coming to Cincy. Add in that he signed a SECOND contract and I do not have any sympathy for him.

I don't think I've ever laughed so hard about something I've read on here :lol:. I know we'd all like to believe that, but in reality it probably isn't so. Could the Bengals be holding on to Palmer for next years draft and use him as draft bait to get the #1 over all pick? If the Bengals had the #2 pick in the draft, I don't think that pick and Carson Palmer would get them to #1.

He has a pulse on that thin line between filling the stadium and not filling the stadium. He knows exactly when to make a big splash to reignite the excitement level for the fan base. Just wish it were on a more consistent and sustained level.

I get the impression most feel Brown could care less if he wins or loses, just as long as he makes money. That is not the sense I get from people that know Brown personally. He hates losing, but he just does not know how to win.

I agree I think he wants to win but he wants to do it his way and nobody will change his mind. I don't know how you can do the same thing for 20 years with those results and not see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Winning will only truly become important to Brown when he starts to lose money from the lack of doing so. He is blessed - and the fans are cursed - with a situation in which he can put a consistently inferior and cheap product on the field and still makes millions of dollars. From a business standpoint, I guess you would have to consider that as being successful. From a football fan standpoint, it is a travesty. He is a selfish, stubborn dinosaur infused with far too much hubris to admit that football knowledge and management skills are not characteristics that one can simply acquire genetically. We haven't played a pre-season game and the 2011 season is already lost. Of course, now that we have LB THomas Howard and his impressive 9 tackles from the 2010 season on our defense, maybe that is an overly harsh assessment . . .
July 29, 201115 yr Author I think Brown cares about winning, absolutely. But he cares more about running his business his way than he cares about winning. And it doesn't matter if his way is different than every other team/owner in the NFL. He runs it his way and wants to win doing it that way.

He has proven that he doesn't know what it takes to win consistently. Anyone as "smart" as him that wanted to win would have scouts, a GM, a great medical staff, and the best facilities. He can "say" whatever he wants. Actions speak far louder than words when it comes to winning in the NFL.

July 29, 201115 yr Author Bengals release Odom! No surprise there and I have no problem with it. The best and deepest position group on the Bengals is probably their defensive line.
