July 30, 201115 yr Palmer was a very one dimensional QB who was very uncomfortable once he left the pocket. Dalton will prove to be a more complete QB who is better suited to play in this league and will be able to run the ball when he needs to. Palmer had concrete boots and was very slow. Dalton brings many more intangibles and you will be seeing this in the near future. I realize Chad had a good career here, but the last few years was a waste imo. A.J. Green's upside is far and away better than Chad's upside on Chad's best day. This kid has freakish talent and if he stays healthy will electrify this league with his abilities. Let me rephrase, both Dalton and Green will be better when their careers are over than Palmer and Johnson. Johnson's career is nearly over while Green's is just beginning. However I was just commenting on you saying they were better already. If you look back to Palmer in college, he was much more mobile and actually a lot like Dalton in that area. The knee injury did definitely make him a statue back there. Dalton does from all indications seem like someone who could end up really being good, and Green very well could be a stud. However as we have seen there have been many other talented players to come to Cincy, who never lived up to what they could be. As Mal said they are both joining the Bengals. A team who has takend talented players, and those guys ended doing nothing for their careers. From all indications it is harder for these guys to do well here. Carson and Chad beat the odds and actually gave us a few really good years, who knows how they would have been in a good organization or with an OC who didn't become predictable. Carson and Chad had very good careers, and helped get the Bengals to win a few division titles, and be competitive unlike they were before they got there. So Dalton and Green will have a challenge to get the Bengals to even do that, because it is tougher in this organization. I know I really like the young talent on the team, however just don't let it forget that the guys you just put down did have very good careers here even against the odds. So those two do have a way to go, to produce as much as they did. Which I do hope your right and that they do, because they are capable of it!

I was not saying that Palmer and Johnson were bad players, I just think that Dalton and Green have some tremendous upside and could possibly end up being better than their predecessors. The thing that I love the most about Green is his size, he is much taller than Chad and will be able to go up over db's and make some great catches. He will be fun to watch over his career. You are right about Palmer post knee injury. Just wasn't the same player.

July 31, 201115 yr I remember a very nice run in the 80's when they went to 2 Superbowls. I am optimistic because the cancer has been cut from this team and I feel Dalton is much better than Palmer and Green is heads and away a much better player than Chad Johnson every thought about being. I also love our young guys in Shipley and Gresham. I would continue to draft stud OL and look for a running back in the 3rd or 4th round next year. Dunlap will also be coming into his own this season. It's easy to hate on the team, but I am going to give these new young guys all the support they deserve. WHO DEY! Certainly the Bengals "Golden Years' although their record for the decade was 81-71, with four winning seasons in ten; not exactly a dynasty, but apparently great in your eyes (PS--Mike loves your kind of thinking)?? Saying Dalton is better than Palmer and Green is better than Ocho is absurd, as neither has played a down in the NFL; but keep up that line of thinking too, and Mikey will keep sucking your money from you?? While I love some of the young receivers (Shipley in particular), and hope to heck you're correct on these statements, history isn't on your side? Zimmer had the "D" showing signs of being competitive and then Brown guts it by letting his best defensive player go, and bringing in his continuing parade of average/poor D-linemen--Hopefully this group of younguns turns this tide?? This team needs a total makeover starting with the owner & head coach. Brown's ineptitude speaks for itself, and Marvin's only back because he's got nowhere else to go. Zimmer's competent and who knows about Gruden, but his pedigree shows hope.

Putting a lot of pressure on the kid??????? What are you talking about? I never said Dalton was better already, if you look back someone has said that. That is why I posted these things to show that people need to look at the whole picture and just not how it ended. Palmer and Chad did very well in their careers here, so its silly for someone to say that Dalton and Green are better than them.
July 31, 201115 yr All you need to look at. What is the record of other QB since Mike Brown has been the owner? Now those are what you need to look at, and then compare them to Palmer. Some of you all always talk about how poorly ran this organization is from owners to coaches. Yet you act like the players should be able to easily overcome that still. Palmer came to a team that was 2 and 14. During his time here the Bengals had one bad season when he was starting for the whole year and that was last year. He took them to two division titles, and in 2004 his first year they were .500. 2006 they were one win away, which they should have got cause Palmer took them down field in two games to win games, but special teams screwed it up. Then 2007 they finished 7-9 and one under .500. 2008 he played 3 games, 2009 they win the division by sweeping it. Last year was the first real bad year under him. So considering you all talk about how bad this organization is. And Considering how bad they were when he came here, and how bad of a track record the Bengals have with QB's under Mike Brown, Carson Palmer did pretty well for the organization. As many have said with the organization is run, its hard for the Bengals to sustain any type of success. However in typical Cincinnati sports fan fashing, as soon as a player struggles people say they suck and they need someone else. Its the samething with the Reds, last year the Reds win the division. But people wanted 3/4th of the team gone at one point during that championship run. That is just how negative this sports town is.
