You know, I have heard that before. Is the Newport area highly German or something?

Reasons the fine young men might have been chanting "Go Mayfield":

1) Want NewCath loss to prevent private school sweep, thus stopping approval of separate divisions.

2) Some of the CovCath students (who like students at X, T, and LexCath, attend school from multiple counties) are actually from Graves County.

3) Were using reverse psychology to fire Breds up.

4) Mistakenly thought Mayfield was the name of the Breds top running back.

5) Wanted to get the goat of FabFour and other NewCath backers.

I agree with them all but #2. Kids from Graves will not cheer for Mayfield!! :D

Mostly Pangallo's in those parts.

The whole metro area is. That's why we have a half dozen Octoberfests...

...that and the beer.

German and Italian, big time.

I wasn't there to witness it. I was told by some of the players. It isn't that big a deal, but some of the Newcath players were disappointed with the chant.

That doesn't matter. How many are actually from Newport anyway? Oops, that should be in a different thread! :D Speaking of the "no class" as this thread puts it. Why was there a big blue H on the front of the helmet a former member of NewCath was holding on the front page of the Enquier sports section today. What's that all about? Was that a shot or what?

Do you guys ever stop looking for reasons to be "offended" by a kids game???

Maybe they are hoping that the Highlands Big Blue H will bring them a little luck. Hey, isn't that public property. j/k

Sounds like good natured teasing to me.

I agree,!!!!!!!!

Young Mister Hat Trick was/is planning on calling young Mister Fabfour to wish him well.

I also wish you the best of luck tomorrow. BUT did ask if we could light the scoreboard up with 42-0 while you practiced....and no one has EVER accused me of being classless.

Wrong is wrong. To trivialize it is hardly a constructive approach. I'm sure it was no big thing to the NCC players; but that doesn't make it right. Golden rule stuff...

Didn't say it made it right. Said it's silly for adults to continue to be offended by kids being kids...

I imagine if Cov Cath had made it to state, they would not have been such poor sports. Could be sour grapes.
