At Highlands yes the players would give up Thanksgiving for a trip to State it happen's every year. Now back to baseball I was sitting watching the UK basketball game last nite with my good friend Mr. Myerhof from Beechwood and for all you out there that want to know Larrimore is about 80% healthy however, not when it comes to batting he is well at 100%. Also I personally asked him about high shool pitchers pitching consistantly 80 to 85 mph. Hog wash it does not happen that often in high school if it did alot of kids would not be able to hit it. Just my two cents from a good knowledgeable person that knows what he talks about. Yes he also approved me in answering these questions. JD

But tell us ABC2, how do you really feel about the spring break rule?

Cut Jeremy some slack. The guy has done more for the baseball program since he took over 2 seasons ago than had been done for decades. Sounds like the rule didn't work out for your son, but all rules can have unforeseen consequences, no matter how well intended & how good they are for the long run health of a program - both of which I believe to be the case with this rule. My son has missed out on seeing his aging grandmother for two years now to stay in town for baseball. Life is a series of decisions. You make the best choices you can based on your priorities & then live with the consequences. As Oprah likes to say - "you can have it all, just not at the same time." And that is the last time I'll ever quote Oprah.

The fact that you even quoted Oprah is a problem. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

When you say "hog wash it does not happen that often in high school"...define "often". If by "often" you mean less than 50% of ALL the fastball pitches thrown this year by ALL the high school pitchers will be less than 80 mph I would probably agree. But 80 to 85 is a very hittable pitch and if someone tracked all the pitches thrown this year there would be over a 1000 pitches thrown this year in Kentucky at 80 or greater.

And again no one is answering the question about how is he going to win! Do not get me wrong I like Jeremy he is a nice guy. But lets face it you need to win and if my kid was an 8th grader or freshman there is no way he would be facing those 18-19 yr old men. So tell me since everyone is ok with the NEW spring break rule when do we win? Are we on a 5 year plan to win a dist or region? If that is the case imo he will not be here to see that. HHS has great athletes how are used to winning and not being on the L side and so are the parents.

Championship baseball programs don't allow baseball players to go on spring break and miss a week of baseball. Would your kid miss football to go on a fall break vacation? Coach Baioni has a formula to develop a championship program. Here is some news for you, a senior who hasn't played high school baseball during his career is not going to help Highlands win the region. Coach Baioni is better off going with younger kids that actually care about playing baseball. Maybe these kids will make the choice to play baseball over spring break when they become seniors and then you will see the regional championships come in flocks. No pun intended!

I like what you are saying. I wish Coach all the luck in the world like I said earlier but lets be real you still need to WIN!! The one thing that people are not saying or telling is what Coach told the people who helped him get the job that he is not following through with now. I am out of this debate and moving on to better things!!

You helped Jeremy get the job? He must be thrilled with your support.

"lets be real you still need to WIN!!" And you do that by letting kids leave the team for Spring Break??? Is it your position that Coach Baioni doesn't want to win? Do you think he has some hidden agenda in forbidding players to go to the beach during the season? Or, do you really in all seriousness and sincerity, all kidding aside, really and truly believe that the key ingredient in building a winning high school baseball program is sending kids to the beach for a week after the season starts? If the latter is your position, please tell us of a recent high school success story that follows this recipe for winning. Or, this just hit me, are you just annoyed that you can't go to Coconut Joes's this Spring?

ABC- Here is an idea- go ask your coach about your new school rule. The rest of the ninth region really does not care.

How does Bellevue look this season? I think they lost some very good Srs last year.

Well, if Myerhof said it, it has to be true! Let's just call him Sparky.

Very young but I think Coach Sanders has some good talent in those younger classes. Transition year yes but will be fine against all the Div III schools in the conference except maybe Beechwood. And will be well coached!

I think this is sarcasm?????

You play the game to win this year; not down the road. And if there are seniors that haven't been on the baseball team in the past that could come out their senior year and help the baseball team this year, it seems rather stupid to have a rule that discourages that from happening in my opinion. What message does it send to the other seniors on the team if you cut a senior who is a better baseball player in order to keep a younger kid on the team in order to increase the team's chances of winning down the road? I know the message: your senior year does not matter to me.

As to the bolded, I've got news for you: either you are wrong or Jeremy is, as he tried very hard to get some of last year's seniors (Collinsworth and Roller to name two) to play baseball last year. He obviously thought they could help the baseball team inspite of them not playing on the baseball team for several years.
